Job Title: Director Communications Grade: 12 (relevant to internal employees) Location: London or New York
This position will provide strategic planning, direction and management to the newly combined (Platts & IHS Markit Energy & Natural Resources) Commodity Insights division for S&P GLOBAL Inc (SPGI), overseeing Commodity Insights' employee communications worldwide and using a variety of communications channels for internal communications (employee newsletters, Intranet, and corporate-wide email ) and supporting major internal communications initiatives, programs and events. This position will contribute to the enterprise's employee engagement efforts, ongoing integration plan, productivity and retention. This position reports to the Head of Commodity Insights Communications . Responsibilities:
  • Working closely with the People team and Chief of Staff, guides and supports the Commodity Insights Operating Committee and senior leaders in strategic communications planning.
  • Draft, edit, review and deliver key messages to employees worldwide regarding Commodity Insights strategy, thought leadership, collaboration among business units, senior leader engagement and organizational changes, companywide programs, events and initiatives, acquisitions, divestitures, etc.
  • Collaborate with senior leaders and coordinate with the business unit communications leaders to ensure the delivery of consistent division-wide messages.
  • Support the Commodity Insights President and Operating Committee members in employee engagement activities and events such as Global Town Halls, Roundtables, Speaking at Employee Events, videos, blogs and manager communications , etc.
  • Support ongoing integration communications plans, working with senior leaders and the Integration Management Office (IMO).
  • Manage internal communications activities relating to incident/crises management.
  • Provide ongoing communications support to Platt's corporate functions: People , Finance, Legal, Compliance, Global Security and Crisis Management.
  • Partner closely with the Commodity Insights division external communicators to collaborate on communications and share best practices and innovative approaches to our work.
  • Oversee the Commodity Insights senior leader and corporate function communication distribution , mailboxes and lists.
  • Use qualitative and quantitative tools and analysis to measure effectiveness of employee engagement through employee communications and to drive further engagement going forward.
Required Skills/Knowledge/Experience
  • Bachelor's degree, with a focus in communications, or journalism preferred
  • 8+ years of relevant communication s experience
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of the modern employee communication practices and channel activation experience implementing best practices on each
  • Must have strong verbal and writing/grammatical skills as well as ability to present information and ideas logically and clearly; keen eye for detail also required.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills with ability to present ideas and information clearly.
  • Collaborative team player able to integrate with a diverse team.
