The Role:

The Team Lead for Operational Readiness, Governance & Reporting Unit will be part of M&G's 1st Line of Defence, supporting all M&G Businesses in their management of Anti Money Laundering (AML) Financial Crime Risk.

The Team Lead will be responsible for managing governance forums, 1st Line FCC MI/ reporting, and enabling operational and policy led change projects. In addition, they will support the Head of 1st Line FCC in the development of quality and risk management framework for 1st Line FCC controls. The Lead will also act as the deputy for the Head of 1st Line FCC, where required.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Managerial responsibility for the regular functioning of governance forums and ensuring all actions, decisions and risks and issues are documented, tracked and reported as needed.
  • Act as deputy for the Head of 1st Line FCC (where required), taking ownership of responsibilities and managing engagement with other M&G functions
  • Manage the design and delivery of all reporting requirements (regular and adhoc) to support 1st Line FCC teams in the management of financial crime risk, and provide insights and analysis on KPIs/KRIs/SLAs as needed.
  • Ensure key stakeholders are engaged and investigation oversight and reporting arrangements are in place
  • Support Team Leads in 1st Line FCC to identify trends and present analysis/ recommendations on FCC controls in to relevant governance forums.
  • Manage reporting activities to ensure all data maintenance, reporting, tracking, escalations, and communication are executed as per the risk management framework
  • Provide design and project delivery oversight across the portfolio of all change initiatives, working with multiple business areas including technology, 2nd line Financial Crime, M&G Business, and KYC analysts.
  • Scope and agree the change management plan and budget, and be responsible for monitoring the spend across all portfolio initiatives and tracking outcomes.
  • Manage and provide oversight of Operational Readiness responsibilities coordinate with Financial Crime impacted stakeholders to ensure seamless transition.
  • Work with the Head of 1st Line FCC and other stakeholders to implement a Quality and Risk Management controls framework for FCC capabilities, including establishing regular risk assessment processes for identification and mitigation of emerging FCC risks.
  • Provide oversight of business re-engineering process, and enhancements to policy and procedures that will provide greater efficiency or reduce the opportunity for error.
  • Manage oversight of Training design, delivery and standard operating procedures

Key Knowledge and Experience:
  • Financial services regulatory financial crime compliance experience - strong understanding of financial crime governance, control frameworks, ability to help build financial crime risk management frameworks and risk appetite frameworks, training, and risks and issues management.
  • Experienced in the management of a portfolio of projects in Financial Services, with a proven track record of programme/project delivery
  • Experienced in leading teams, building a positive culture and managing/prioritising their activities to support business outcomes
  • Excellent stakeholder communication, comfortable interfacing with stakeholders across multiple senior leadership teams within the bank
  • Experienced in establishing and managing a governance structure
  • Experience in management of portfolio of projects covering Financial Crime, AML/KYC transformation, as well as efficiency and customer experience objectives.
  • Ability to articulate and communicate how the change will impact in-scope business areas and associated business processes and people
  • The role requires excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate key insights and recommendations to senior leadership
  • Experienced in managing and minimising the impact of operational change
