About this role:

The Corporate and Investment Banking (CIB) division of Wells Fargo Wholesale coordinates client coverage and effectively aligns our resources and capabilities to meet the needs of our clients.

The Debt Capital Markets (DCM) team is part of Banking and Capital Markets (BCM) within CIB; the team is responsible for originating transactions for our Corporate, Commercial Real Estate and Financial Institution clients.

In this role, you will:

The successful candidate will:
  • Develop a leadership role in the origination and execution of Investment Grade transactions for US Corporate clients in the EUR/GBP bond markets ('Reverse Yankee'), which is regarded as a core growth opportunity for Wells Fargo
  • Work in close collaboration with US DCM and US Banking partners as well as European Syndicate to originate Investment Grade Reverse Yankee transactions:
    • Opportunity identification, in conjunction with other product teams (e.g. Liability Management)
    • Preparation of pitch materials
    • Delivery of content, ideas and analysis to clients
    • Travel to the US to pitch clients in person
  • Work in close collaboration with US DCM and European Syndicate to execute Investment Grade Reverse Yankee transactions:
    • Contribute to the execution process (e.g. documentation review, pricing updates, marketing materials, roadshow schedules etc)
    • Assist with client management during the execution phase
    • Assist with internal approvals and due diligence
  • Work closely with the other members of the DCM team and Financial Solutions Group to generate ideas, innovative content and transferable pitch materials as well as updates and thought-pieces for general Corporate client distribution
  • Support European DCM team members with the origination and execution of Investment Grade transactions for local clients as needed
This position is based in London and is deemed to be a Certified Person function under the FCA and PRA Certification Regime.

Required Qualifications, International:
  • Extensive experience in Debt Capital Markets origination
  • A 'self-starter' with an entrepreneurial mindset
  • Ability to interact with internal and external clients in a confident and professional manner
  • Ability to cultivate strong relationships
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills and an ability to learn quickly and apply critical thinking to achieve objectives for both internal and external clients
  • Ability to perform at a high level - both independently as well as part of a team; ability to work well with a variety of different team members spread across multiple locations and timezones (e.g. US DCM, US Banking, US M&A, European Syndicate, European Sales & Trading etc)
  • Desire to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment within a rapidly growing platform
  • Exceptional work quality and attention to detail with a strong sense of personal accountability; ability to meet stringent deadlines
  • Extensive experience in using Microsoft Excel, Powerpoint and Word to analyse data and present outcomes in a highly professional manner
  • Good working knowledge of corporate finance concepts and familiarity with common financial metrics
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent preferred
