MS Amlin

6 months

London (hybrid working)

Role Overview:

The Underwriting Modelling team provide a core service to MS Amlin and affiliated insurance businesses within the MS Amlin group. They are responsible for management of Catastrophe Risk: including pricing contracts, maintaining the quarterly portfolio, measuring the portfolio against capital tolerances, providing data and metrics for outward reinsurance purchase, analysing risk exposure and accumulations including submitting RDS returns to Lloyd's, analysing the portfolio for Lloyd's Business Planning, and providing event response and other ad hoc services.

MSAmlin is replacing its legacy Exposure Management systems with a single instance of Sequel Impact and implementing a replacement workflow management solution based on ServiceNow. We are concluding our initial discovery phase with Sequel and are moving ahead into a phased implementation. We have set ourselves an ambitious target of implementing Sequel Impact across 3 legal entities and all our business classes by the end of 2023. Consequently we are looking to expand our team with testing resources to work within the implementation team to successfully deliver this system.

This role's primary focus will be to deliver testing activities for the Sequel Impact implementation and/or the workflow management implementation. You will be responsible for preparing and executing test activities across the full test lifecycle and will be accountable for delivering project testing services in line with MS Amlin standards.

The tasks will include:
  • Reviewing and contributing to test plans by liaising extensively with internal and external stakeholders ensuring testing requirements and acceptance criteria are captured correctly and completely.
  • Analysis of test requirements and creation of test scenarios and scripts
  • Execution of test scripts; reporting on outcomes, and raising observations and issues as appropriate.
  • Tracking and reporting on test progress to the test manager.
  • All aspects of defect management

Critical success factors of the role are:
  • Develop, document and maintain functional test cases and other test artefacts like the test data, data validation, harness scripts and automated scripts. Execute and evaluate manual or automated test cases and report test results. Isolate, replicate and report defects and verify defect fixes. Ensure that validated deliverables meet functional and design specifications and requirements. Support user acceptance testing (UAT) and assist in the preparation of environments and data required to execute testing.
  • Work with the Senior Test Lead or other team members to review functional and design specifications to ensure full understanding of individual deliverables enabling the job holder to identify test requirements, map test case requirements, design test coverage plan and provide test estimates with clear advice on associated risks. Report on and apportion time between simultaneous test work-streams. Prepare test output reports and acceptance notes as required then participating in sign-off meetings.
  • Work with other team members to ensure that post project completion there are adequate test artefacts to allow for regression testing when modifications are made in the future and that all tacit knowledge necessary for running the regression test artefacts is captured and shared appropriately. Ensure that all testing is documented in sufficient detail to facilitate review by internal and external auditors.
  • Establish a close working relationship with key business users. Proactively manage the testing process with business users and provide key stakeholders with relevant information on the testing process.
  • To act in accordance at all times with the company's Business Ethics Policy. To be satisfied that your activities comply with all relevant Company, FCA, Lloyd's regulatory and legal requirements with particular reference to the Competition Policy, Anti-Money Laundering and Health and Safety Policies.

To act at all times with professional integrity. The role may be exposed to sensitive information and the job holder must at all times ensure the confidentiality of this information whether concerning members of staff or company business.

Key Skills:
