About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Legal Entity Statutory Accountant.

In this role, you will:
  • Responsible for the accuracy and integrity of the external financial reporting for a range of Wells Fargo legal entities, in line with rules and requirements of GAAP across EMEA
  • Preparation and audit of annual financial statements, including supporting the external auditor relationship/activity, and engagement with key internal stakeholders (EMEA CFO, Audit Committee, legal entity boards)
  • Provide support to key ad-hoc or project related initiatives including (but not limited to) Legal Entity strategy and development, Tax reporting, cost allocations and transfer pricing
  • Monitor and develop the local control environment and associated close control to support accurate and timely external financial reporting
  • Responsible for the adoption of Wdesk and ongoing maintenance of the EMEA statutory accounts
  • Embed and drive adherence to applicable firmwide policies
  • Responsible for considering upcoming external Financial Reporting requirements and how the company might adopt them e.g. Environmental, Social and Governance
  • Engage with key stakeholders to support projects which affect the financial reporting & wider finance function.
  • Ensure operational documentation is maintained
  • Oversee and challenge the re-engineering of legacy manual processes, utilising 'best in class' toolsets wherever possible
  • In addition to these functions, employees are required to carry out such other duties as may reasonably be required, including other ad hoc financial control and reporting tasks as required
Required Qualifications, International:
  • Experience in Finance, Accounting, Analytics, Financial Reporting, Accounting Reporting, Risk Reporting, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • Practice trained ACA/ACCA (or equivalent) qualified professional with relevant statutory accounting experience including managing the preparation and review of statutory accounts
  • Experience of managing external audit activity required
  • Exposure to the banking industry is required
  • A strong understanding of IFRS required
Desired Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of investment banking products and their accounting treatment an advantage
  • Previous experience of Wdesk an advantage
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently within a team structure.
  • Innovative mindset, with a track record of process enhancement
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to present concisely and accurately to senior audiences
  • Intuitive; fast learner with good problem solving skills.
  • Good time management and organisational skills.
  • Qualified accountant with at least 5 years PQE
Job Expectations:
  • EMEA Controllers group is responsible for regulatory, financial, and management reporting requirements in the region. As well as forming a key part of the International Controllers organization, the team provides local support for varied financial services business lines as well as the EMEA CFO/management team.

    This role will report to the EMEA Legal Entity Controller, with responsibility for leading the EMEA approach to external financial reporting and statutory accounts production for a range of EMEA legal entities which includes the regulated Inter-dealer Broker entities. The role will be responsible for managing the relationship and interactions with our external auditors. It will also involve liaising with the legal entity control teams and other contributors of the statutory accounts. The role will be responsible for the maintenance and development of the control environment over the production of the accounts. The role will require considerable interaction with the entities Director's and support the entity audit committees.

    This role will also support the Legal Entity Control team with a number of strategic initiatives.

    This role is best suited to candidates with a strong statutory accounting background gained either in practice or in a similar role within a bank. Key attributes include a strong attention to detail, good communication skills, the ability to pick up concepts quickly and the desire to learn in a fast moving environment.
