Senior Manager to lead the creation and growth of a new Portfolio Management Office (PMO) team and capability for Next-Gen Software Solutions. This role will lead the design, implementation and management responsibilities around how NGSS supports our Product Portfolio, as well as the wider operations of the team, and run Portfolio Management activities on a day-to-day basis. Successful candidates should have a successful track record of setting up and running enterprise-level PMO functions, advising senior leadership on portfolio performance and recommended actions, managing effective operations and administration, and experience building and developing a new team. Candidates with previous management consulting experience are highly desirable.

Portfolio management
  • Independently manage creation and delivery of portfolio updates to Software Product Leadership Team (SPLT)
  • Manage and lead interactions with senior stakeholders for both reporting process and state-gate product approval process
  • Identify successes, issues, risks and potential actions to be escalated to NGSS or SPLT
  • Provide visibility to in-year software financial and non-financial performance and guide annual software budgeting process
  • Act as portfolio management tool product owner, managing relationship with the vendor and the feature roadmap

Portfolio Operations Management
  • Lead day-to-day Portfolio Management operations
  • Facilitate capacity management and resource allocation discussions across product portfolio
  • Set up and manage financial tracking for both product portfolio and NGSS team, including analysis of data and drawing out insights using Excel, Alteryx (and management of others to do the same)

Qualifications

Education

Degree level and area of specialization needed for the performance of this role's Essential Functions

Required
  • Bachelors degree, ideally in Business Administration, or related field

Preferred
  • Masters degree
  • PMO qualification such as P3O
  • Project management qualification such as PRINCE2 or PMP
  • Portfolio Management qualification such as MoP

Experience

Required
  • Total of 8-10+ years working in project, program and/or portfolio management
  • 3+ years leading Portfolio/program management offices, including department or companywide project portfolio management
  • Experience setting up multiple new portfolio/program management functions, including defining processes, standards and roles
  • Experience in the management consulting industry


Preferred
  • 3+ years leading Portfolio/program management offices, including department or companywide project portfolio management
  • Experience acting as (portfolio management) software product owner


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Required
  • Strong knowledge of Portfolio Management design, standards, governance operations
  • Able to manage interactions and presentations at executive level, including leading presentations personally
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem solving ability
  • Ability to define development and career path for junior team
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills, and able to lead communication with senior stakeholders
  • Strong presentation design, creation and delivery skills, particularly use of PowerPoint
  • Understands software P&L and accounting
  • Strong analytical capabilities
  • Skilled in Excel, Alteryx and other analytical tools

Preferred
  • Experience with the software development process and managing software lifecycles
  • Familiarity with software commercial models in professional services environments
