The EMEA Real Estate Finance team originates and manages real estate finance loans principally non-recourse loans in areas of income producing and development non-recourse structures on properties located in UK and continental Europe.

Experience and skills required:
  • Knowledge and understanding of UK/European real estate finance market
  • Sound credit / risk analysis and quantitative / numerical skills, and basic knowledge of industry documentation (financial stmts., compliance certificates forward looking financial data, RICS valuation reports, property due diligence information)
  • Attention to detail and accuracy and ability to manage tasks to high standard and within deadlines.
  • Strong and proven communication (written and verbal) and relationship building skills
  • Ability to work proactively as a team player within the departmetn and across the Bank with limited supervision
  • Bachelor's degree and/or working towards a relevant professional qualification

Job Purpose:
  • To develop and support the EMEA Real Estate Finance (REF) origination, execution and portfolio management process.
  • To work as part of a deal team to analyse and execute real estate finance transactions
  • To support the team's origination activities and preparation of marketing materials
  • To support the team's portfolio management activities, including monitoring of loan performance, processing loan waivers and amendments and conducting periodic credit reviews
  • May lead certain internal workstreams

Responsbilities:
  1. Credit: Compiling initial drafts of key sections of initial credit reviews and credit application; specific sections of financial analysis; establishment and verification of financial model under supervision. May be responsible or certain sections of the credit application paper. Assistance in the preparation of related materials and ad hoc research and analysis as required. Primary responsibility for preparation of periodic credit monitoring applications and ad hoc waiver and amendment applications.
  2. Structuring: Reflect agreed key structuring points in credit application and models as directed. Initial review of high-level term sheets.
  3. Portfolio Management: Primary point of contact responsible for managing and monitoring all documentation and credit aspects of a portfolio of loans assigned to them.
  4. Execution: Input and preparation of key internal systems (e.g. internal grading, GBR), preparation of materials/identification and resolution of issues for internal closing process (e.g., KYC, operations, agency etc). Discussing closing matters and agreeing internal documentation /forms.
    o Initiating and managing on-boarding processes through direct interface and cooperation with internal and external parties.
    o Liaison with support and function teams (e.g., Planning, Compliance, Control, Loans Admin, KYC) to ensure satisfaction of all internal booking and operational requirements necessary to successfully book new loan transactions.
  5. Process: Understand and comply with all relevant bank policies and procedures, departmental Standard Operating Procedures and processes. Maintain key origination databases (e.g., pipelines, marketing approvals)
  6. Marketing: Create marketing material and follow up as required. Attend meetings with VP/DIED/MD to provide report and develop client and inter-office relationships. As appropriate, attend conferences and industry events to maintain up to date industry knowledge. Provide information to clients on products and services, including investment products.
