OUR IMPACT Engineering and Critical Systems Operations (ECSO) is responsible for managing the operational risk of the firms owned and leased real estate assets across EMEA to maintain 100% business continuity throughout the portfolio. In addition to managing the operation and sustainment of existing assets, the role also assists in site selection due diligence, MEPH design, and construction administration support of new assets. The team works closely with our workplace engineering and Environmental and Social Governance (ESG) teams to ensure we are maximizing the operating efficiency of our assets to achieve the firms environmental and healthy building goals.
HOW YOU WILL FULFILL YOUR POTENTIAL This position is based in our London Office and reports to the UK Engineering and Critical Systems Lead VP, and will be responsible for managing operational risk of the firm's occupational real estate assets. Specifically, you will oversee a team of third party vendor, engineering resources responsible for the day to day operation, maintenance and sustainability of dedicated infrastructure assets. Additionally, this role will develop to serve as an engineering subject matter expert and will be leveraged for Landlord management, project and operational support across the broader EMEA real estate portfolio.
Engineering & Critical Systems Operations:
  • Ensure the critical MEP infrastructure supporting business operations is operated and maintained to the highest standards of reliability and efficiency and in accordance with the firm's global engineering risk management policies and procedures.
  • Manage preventative maintenance activity programs and ensure compliance with both OEM, regulatory and business focused maintenance objectives.
  • Integrate global business focused strategies i.e. Healthy Building Strategy, Digital integration program etc.
  • Ensure KPIs are track, i.e. energy, capacity utilization, etc. against operational and strategic goals.
  • Monitoring processes for campus infrastructure loads such as: UPS, utility power intensities, and chilled water etc.
  • Leverage fault detection and analytic software to identify operating anomalies and inefficiencies.
  • Evaluate and evolve operational procedures to ensure the facilities comply with Goldman Sachs risk management and efficiency objectives.
  • Manage capacity in technology spaces and trading environments and support technology change management processes.
  • Participate in real estate planning, design, development and execution of capital projects, including consultant RFP/interview process, drawing review, and construction / commissioning administration.
  • Manage onsite third party vendors providing Facilities engineering & critical systems operations services ensuring that all work is performed in accordance with the firm's policies.
  • Project management support of critical infrastructure construction and upgrade projects.
  • Participate in development and management of annual operations and capital budgets for facilities.
Incident Response/Crisis Management
  • Assist crisis management resources to identify potential/immediate impacts, restore operational capabilities and institute required safeguards.
  • Minimise the Firm's exposure to business risk by continuous review of the engineering and operational practices.
  • Assist in the management of critical incidents as part of a team coverage plan, escalation and evaluation of vendor's response where business maybe exposed to risk from down-time of critical systems.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE WE ARE LOOKING FOR Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree level in Engineering discipline, associate membership of IET, CIBSE or similar, etc.
  • Familiar with engineering design and/or facilities management practices.
  • Understanding of the fundamentals of critical systems infrastructure, risk mitigation practices for operation and maintenance of critical systems, and demonstrated experience working with organizations in the planning and operation of critical environments.
  • Possess the ability to understand fundamental building codes and as well as ASHRAE standards and guidelines
  • Ability to write reports, develop presentations, and communicate technical concepts to non-technical management personnel is essential
  • Strong communication skills
  • Proficient with the suite of Microsoft Office software
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional membership of engineering governing body.
  • Mechanical & Electrical design and commissioning experience
  • Design / operation experience of enterprise data centers and/or other "mission critical" facilities

CWS Engineering - Aligns several engineering functions focused on collaboration and productivity tools. Departments include Digital Workplace, Client and Production Engineering, Corporate Engineering, Spend, Data and Automation, Windows Engineering and Product Success and Delivery Engineering.
Office of Global Security (OGS) - Protects the people and assets of Goldman Sachs to ensure a safe and secure environment. Assesses risk to enable the delivery of effective security, fire and life safety protocols and leads crisis management preparation, implementation and recovery processes. Includes Physical Security & Investigations, Executive Protection, Fire Safety and Crisis Management.
Divisional Management (COO) - Aligns division-wide functions to drive strategic cohesiveness, consistency and efficiency. Departments include Business Unit Management, Communications and User Engagement, Risk and Environmental, Social & Governance.
