Job Summary

This new role within the Credit Research Team of the Asset Management division will support the implementation of a Responsible Investment strategy for Canada Life. This includes supporting all investment teams in terms of sustainability research and stewardship across all asset classes and investment strategies.

What You'll Do
  • Assist with stewardship activities and advance analysis to improve company level engagement actions and voting. Interview companies and follow their progress over time, use judgment to evaluate their progress, write up and justify your position- your work will influence investment decisions
  • Improve systems to monitor engagement and voting alignment and proxy voting guidelines
  • Research - (1) Produce thematic research to support the development and execution of 'theme based' stewardship and (2) conduct research on sustainable investing industry trends, latest academic research and material ESG topics
  • Assist Head of Credit Research as required with ESG duties and responsibilities. Assist with internal and external requests for support and data related to credit investments as appropriate and required
  • Work with strategic external partners to evaluate third party tools and datasets
  • Manage and monitor exclusion lists
Who You Are
  • Strong analytical skills with ESG research analysis / writing experience together with the ability to gather information and use it to draw sound conclusions and present strong arguments.
  • Strong communication skills as role requires both verbal presentations and written reports.
  • Demonstrated interests in the investment industry, particularly Responsible Investing.
  • Excellent time management skills and flexibility to change priorities to meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, Excel.
  • Preferred knowledge of investment analytical tools such as Bloomberg.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 2:1 degree from a highly ranked university
  • Completion of, or progress towards, the CFA is preferred
