A wonderful opportunity to move into the lucrative world of Private Equity. Our client is a significant investor in tech across the UK and Europe. Due to continued growth, a new role has been created within its Portfolio Monitoring function, designed to build relationships with the portfolio business and analyse their financial health to aid commercial decision making. They are seeking a qualified accountant with an FP&A skills-set, interested in making the move into Private Equity.

The Role:

Portfolio Planning and Analysis
  • Reviewing and approving portfolio company data submissions
  • Ability to effectively communicate and build strong relationships with portfolio company finance teams
  • Assisting to provide valuable consolidated analysis and insight on results, underlying information, trends, information and their impacts for their portfolio companies, Fund(s) and Firm
  • Helping to monitor and review trading data to ensure it is realistic, in line with agreed strategic plans and expectations and escalate any associated concerns as appropriate
  • Additional project support to help drive reporting improvement projects

Portfolio reporting system (iLevel)
  • Being a highly competent sponsor and "super user", helping to manage the system on an on-going basis, developing custom reports and additional data capture architecture as required to fulfil business needs
  • Providing advice and assistance to other users aimed at ensuring effective and consistent usage

Building effective relationships with internal teams and portfolio companies
  • Assisting to sense check and query information received to ensure high quality financial outputs
  • Assist in embedding financial ownership and responsibility within portfolio companies through partnering with assistance from Executives and Operating Partners
  • Challenging and focussing the deal teams and management team on important trends by creating concise yet powerful reporting, aligned to team goals

Realisation committee reporting
  • Assisting with fund level analysis and projected outcomes based on investment performance
  • Helping to provide Committee leaders with deeper understanding and insightful analysis of information and trends and drawing conclusions and making recommendations
  • Participating where required at Realisation Committee and other Partner meetings

Client (investor) reporting
  • Assistance with preparation of financial information for investor reports, fundraising and AGM materials
  • Ad hoc portfolio company performance data as required by investors

Other Responsibilities
  • Supervision of qualified financial accountant who will support you in this role
  • Assist with continued systems implementations and upgrades

Requirements:
  • You will be a fully qualified accountant
  • Have prior experience, ideally from an FP&A role, within a commercial business. Prior experience in Private Equity is not required
  • Have excellent all round communication skills
  • Have very good Excel skills
  • Prior experience with financial modelling would be advantageous
