  • Are you someone who would enjoy collaborating with multiple organisations and teams to drive how data can legally and safely inform ongoing improvements in the fabric of Government?

If so, click that apply button now and join us as a Senior Data Governance Manager.

We have a new and exciting opportunity for at least three Senior Data Governance Managers to join and help shape our new and growing Office of the Chief Data Officer (OoCDO).

The scale here is beyond huge. We hold data for almost every person in the UK. We connect into every service DWP currently delivers, and every new service we're building - we believe there is no bigger or more critical data challenge in Europe.

Data. Work. Policy.

With data at the heart of much of our social interaction, and more online services than ever, DWP is facing an unprecedented challenge and opportunity around the use of personal and system data to improve services for our millions of users.

We are transforming our technology, but also our culture and organizational design.

Our Data & Analytics teams are working to become the central nervous system of the department, providing a holistic data service to the organization using safe, trusted and enriched data to drive the right decisions for our citizens and for DWP.

This is a ground floor opportunity for you to help us build something brilliant.

As our new Data Governance Manager you will work closely with the Head of Data Governance and DWP Senior leaders to set and implement our Data Governance strategy.

You will oversee organization-wide data governance activities and will have responsibility for improving the quality and protection of sensitive data and information assets. You'll protect the privacy and day of DWP customers and service users

This role is focused on data strategy, on process, policy and data sharing agreements. You'll help us achieve the required level of consistency, quality and protection, as we safely and better share data within DWP, across government and with private sector partners.

What skills, knowledge and experience are we looking for?
  • You have experience of developing and introducing Data Governance Strategy in a data focused large-scale Enterprise.
  • You have experience of applying data governance and data management practices, in particular setting and applying data management policies, standards and processes.
  • You have developed and introduced a Data Governance performance and quality measurement system to ensure organizational compliance with data related policies, standards, roles and responsibilities. Using these as a catalyst for improvement and risk reduction.
  • You have consultancy skills and the ability to influence the way things are done, utilizing change management concepts and strategies, including communication and culture change.
  • You have extensive knowledge of data structures, standards, security practices as well as regulatory and legal requirements relating to data.
  • You have experience in data integrity frameworks, and the application of data standards.

Details. Wages. Perks.

You'll join us in your choice of our brilliant digital hubs in either Blackpool, Leeds, Newcastle or Sheffield.

We also have all the tools and tech we need to enable our people to work flexibly, and many of us are working remotely at the moment due to COVID-19.

In return for your skills, we offer a competitive salary of up to £59,589 a brilliant civil service pension with employer contributions worth over 27%, and a generous leave package starting at 26 days.

We also have a broad benefits package built around your work-life balance which includes:
  • Flexible working, flexi hours and flexi days
