The purpose of this role is to drive sales of Canada Life's Retirement Account through the key account and regional sales teams to increase assets under administration and to deliver business performance targets. The role holder will be part of the distribution management team and will work collaboratively to ensure that the sales target is delivered

What you'll do:
  • Develop and train the sales teams to ensure they are competent and capable of exploiting pension sales from their intermediary panels. This will include observation, coaching and feedback, devising and implementing sales campaigns and analysing data to validate the success of campaigns.
  • Develop and maintain a high level of knowledge of the retirement income market, Canada Life's proposition, competitor contracts, relevant legislation and market trends to be recognised as a pension specialist internally and with IFAs.
  • To Identify and establish opportunities to build a new pipeline of future chosen customers. Frequent analysis of the matrix statistics will be required to establish where we are gaining and losing market share.
  • Develop, maintain and demonstrate a high level of sales, communication, presentation and motivation skills to achieve high volumes of business through the sales teams. This will include presentations at internal team meetings as well as occasionally presentations to IFA teams and seminars.
  • Gather market intelligence and contribute sales ideas to the wider distribution team and to ensure CL maintains a competitive position.
  • Ensure that panel position is obtained/ maintained from the key networks and nationals. Liaise with the sales teams and proposition team in respect of pricing deals/ fund additions/ DFM MPS addition
Key accountabilities:
  • The role holder has the authority and discretion to make decisions that are in line with the overall strategy of the organisation and within the confines of existing corporate frameworks.
  • For all other accountabilities, the role holder has the freedom to act within the confines of local legislation and existing corporate policies. Where recommendations impact budget, company performance, or include sensitive people issues, the role holder is expected to present upwards before tangible action is taken.
What you'll bring to the role:
  • Good knowledge of technology and e-commerce including platforms - keeping abreast of current developments and trends in the market place.
  • Excellent knowledge of the pension landscape is essential
  • An understanding of the UK taxation system and how life assurance bonds are taxed is preferable
  • Co-operates with other management team members to resolve problems and achieve goals, sharing ideas, skills and knowledge.
  • The ability to demonstrate building and maintaining effective relationships at a senior level
  • A detailed understanding of key financial adviser groups advising in the post retirement market.
  • Ability to demonstrate highly effective interpersonal and communication skills including persuasive, influencing, motivational and negotiation skills, at all levels
  • Highly developed presentation skills in particular to small / medium sized groups
  • Ability to work well in a team but can equally work well on your own.
  • To understand the needs of consumers at the point of retirement and beyond.
  • Ideally - CII Diploma in Financial Planning - Level 4 (or at least studying for)
  • Minimum - Recognised and relevant qualification, equivalent to QCF level 4 at least
