We are looking for an Operations Manager to take responsibility for Charterpath's
day to day running.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, energetic individual who is comfortable working independently. The nature of Charterpath as start-up means responsibilities will range for basic administrative tasks on the website to providing strategic direction and acting as an ambassador for the organisation with highprofile corporate partners.

We would love to find someone who either has experience as an accountant or within a non-profit so as to best engage with our key stakeholders.

What is Charterpath? www.charterpath.org.uk
Charterpath is a relatively new non-profit organisation on a mission to inspire more accountants to volunteer their time and skills to the non-profit sector. Volunteers with
financial skills are always in demand and never more so following the pandemic and the current cost-of-living crisis, which have led to a decrease in funding but an uptick in demand for charity services.

The training which accountants receive is so broad it allows them to contribute to everything from book-keeping to strategic planning, risk assessments, and everything in between.

Whilst lawyers undertake pro bono work as part of their qualification, accountants tend to stumble across volunteering by accident or only start looking for roles once they have retired. The average trustee of a UK charity is over 50, white, male and of above average income - as a result there is an increasing quest for diverse candidates.

As well as inspiring accountants to get involved, Charterpath aims to connect them with non-profit opportunities, and engage with accounting institutes and corporates, to embed volunteering as a core part of an accountant's career.

We deliver this vision through social media campaigns, a website promoting opportunities and useful resources and organising events to spread awareness. Our vision is the Charterpath becomes a community of support for all accountant volunteers.

Since we launched our website 12 months ago, we have gained over 1,000 social media followers, have over 120 signed up Charterpath volunteers, and 24 accountants already matched with non-profits. What's more, 45% of our volunteers are female, over 40% non-white and over 50% under the age of 35 - representing the diversity which non-profits are looking for! We are currently exploring a number of corporate partnerships which will help the organisation scale. We believe Charterpath can make a huge difference in the sector.

The key responsibilities of the Operations Director will be as follows:
Inspire
• Deliver Charterpath' social media strategy, producing content which is engaging and innovative, promoting the benefits of volunteering (the organisation has an
Agorapulse license which allows for easy scheduling, several months ahead).
• Collate ideas for content from the Charterpath team, ambassadors and volunteers, plus sharing news from other non-profits
• Prepare Charterpath bi-monthly newsletter, sharing success stories of volunteers, promoting current opportunities and upcoming events
• Update website with relevant articles and volunteer stories

Respond to volunteer enquiries about volunteering (template responses
available)

Connect
• Co-ordinate with non-profits on advertising of new opportunities, explaining process, sharing role descriptions and adding these to the website
• Establish templates to facilitate these processes eg guidance for what makes a good role description, example of treasurer responsibilities
• Use Charterpath volunteer database to contact potential candidates to guage
their interest
• Liaise with our recruitment partner - providing an overview of key roles to enable them to promote across their own network.

Engage
• Arrange for Charterpath team /ambassadors to speak at corporate events (across existing volunteer networks) to promote the mission of Charterpath and recruit more volunteers
• Collaborate with existing Charterpath partner organisations to organise joint events (bi-monthly) both virtual and in-real-life
• Work with Charterpath Ambassadors to encourage their attendance at events and leverage their network for potential speakers
• Review content for events to ensure it is appropriate and that speakers are well organised
• Seek feedback post events to take onboard any recommendations for future events
• Build out pilot mentoring programme with support from Charterpath team to develop necessary materials and matching processes

Our desired candidate is:
• A self-starter, happy working independently
• A clear communicator, confident presenting to different stakeholders and explaining the mission of Charterpath
• Experience with a variety of social media channels (ideally in a corporate capacity) and of designing a successful communications strategy
• Good at motivating others, building out the Charterpath network and working to get the most out of our ambassadors, partners and volunteers
• An outcomes focused person, setting weekly targets and delivering against them
• Happy switching from high-level strategic planning to managing day to day administrative tasks
• Comfortable with technology, maintaining the Charterpath website and newsletter (produced with user friendly software - EditorX and ChampMailer)
• Excellent written English and experience writing short, concise articles

Our ideal candidate would have experience either as an accountant or within a nonprofit.
Experience as a volunteer would be even better! And of course a passion for
our mission - to support the non-profit sector
