About our client
We're working with a well-established and highly regarded alternative asset manager. It invests in a wide range of private equity style products and it is growing each year. Part of this growth is down to its entrepreneurial approach to business and its hands on attitude. It is looking to hire a Senior Investment Manager to join its alternative investment team. From day one, you will lead all aspects of the transaction process, assist the Director of Alternative Finance and manage its alternative finance investments.
What the job involves
  • Providing day-to-day management of its alternative finance investments, including holding board-level relationships at one of its existing investments (a specialist PE fund), and executing the strategy for investment in new alternative investment opportunities, including the origination, execution and investment management of the portfolio
  • Being the principal author of investment papers required to secure approval for any acquisition or disposal
  • Oversee the preparation of financial models and forecasts
  • Leading elements of due diligence for new investments including leading the preparation of legal, tax, financial and risk management due diligence reports
  • Operating within delegated authorities and risk framework that apply to direct investment. For existing investments, this will include the preparation of submissions to various stakeholder boards and committees
  • Upholding and enhancing the management and reporting of risk across principal investing, including providing oversight to ensure that risk registers are completed and up to date, policy frameworks adopted in portfolio companies, audit & internal control actions monitored and closed in a timely manner
Who we are looking for
  • Proven experience in principal or advisory investment roles in alternatives is essential
  • Commercially astute with excellent negotiation skills
  • Experience of building new business platforms and appropriately managing them through different phases of growth
  • Experience of developing and executing business/divisional strategy, including gaining the buy-in of appropriate senior stakeholders
  • Experience contributing to transaction execution, managing formal due diligence including review of contracts, commercial and financial diligence and assessment of risks
  • Track record of presenting and influencing senior stakeholders, up to and including Board-level
  • Experience as a Board Observer (preferred but not essential)
  • Ideally experience working in asset management with GP/LP structures (not essential)
