Senior Portfolio Manager | Long Term Strategy | London or Australia

AustralianSuper is a leading and fast-growing global investor with operations in Australia, Asia, the United Kingdom, and United States. Due to our continued growth, we are searching for an experienced Senior Portfolio Manager, looking at the long-term strategy of the Fund. This role sits in our Total Portfolio Management department, responsible for delivering the management and oversight of the Fund's diversified investment options.

Excitingly, we are open to having someone join the office in either London, in Kings Cross, where you'll be the first seat here, or alternatively joining the extended team in Australia.

Your new team

Our investments group values its people and capability above all.

Their activities include Asset Allocation & Research, and Total Portfolio Management, as well as asset classes that include Fixed Income & Currency, Capital Markets, Equities and "Mid Risk" Portfolios.

The Mid-Risk/Real Assets departments are the larger of the team internationally (London and New York) which we are continuing to grow, along with Capital Markets and FICC in London.

The Total Portfolio Management group manages six Diversified investment options across the risk return spectrum. The Balanced Option is the flagship option with more than 80% of members' funds.

Your new role

The Senior Portfolio Manager, Long Run Strategy is a key leadership role within the Investments team. It is responsible for researching and developing the long-run investment strategy and setting the long-run portfolio for the Balanced option.

You will work with the Diversified Option Portfolio Managers to deliver long-run value-add across all the diversified options.

Key duties and responsibilities include:
  • Researching, developing, and recommending the long-run investment strategy of the Balanced option to deliver value-add relative to a reference benchmark
  • Working together with the portfolio managers for the other diversified options providing research to support the long-run investment strategy for these options
  • Contributing opinions and ideas and research as required into the Total Portfolio Management Team's setting of the asset allocation for all the Fund's investment options
  • Additional research tasks as directed by the CIO, Investment Committee, Head of Total Portfolio Management and Head of Diversified Portfolios


What you'll need - Qualifications & Experience

Culture is key here at AustralianSuper and we are looking for someone who is a team player that enjoys working in a high performing collaborative team. You will have proven experience in investment decision making and/or investment strategy and a track record of investing or allocating capital for a multi-asset portfolio.

In addition, you will have:
  • Demonstrated strong quantitative skills in assessing and developing portfolio construction, risk modelling
  • Knowledge and capability to undertake economic and econometric modelling
  • Experience developing and building investment processes
  • Superior tertiary and postgraduate qualifications in a related field.
  • Strong presentation and report writing skills.
