Position Description:

Our alternatives business at PIMCO continues to expand fund offerings and remains a key growth area for the firm. The team covers asset-backed structured products and PE investments for the US and Europe and focuses on fundamental and relative valuation across capital structures and asset classes, with a focus on performing, non/re-performing loans in residential, commercial and consumer credit asset classes.

We are looking to hire a front office desk quant to join our Alternative Investment team in our London office - initially on a Contract basis. In this role you will work directly with our lead EMEA private markets quant. Your focus will be on writing code and improving valuation-pricing models while working closely with our analysts and portfolio managers to aid in the valuation of opportunities, and ongoing performance assessment of existing trades, in the performing and (especially) non-performing residential and commercial real-estate space.

Responsibilities:

  • Process, study, analyse and interpret portfolios and historical performance data sets, primarily using Python
  • Run and improve existing Python libraries and tools in their application to prospective and existing deals
  • Develop new tools and augment existing libraries to improve efficiency of underwriting and monitoring processes
  • Liaise closely with Portfolio Managers to understand and meet their requirements.


Position Requirements:

  • Advanced degree in a quantitative discipline such as mathematics, science, engineering, statistics, or physics
  • 3+ years of python development experience in a professional capacity. Deep knowledge of Python 3.6+
  • 3+ years of front office quant experience at a top sell or buy side firm. Strong quantitative skills, specifically financial mathematics, probability, statistics and economics ideally applied to valuation-pricing models
  • Experience working with trading desks is strongly preferred
  • Able to articulate issues and explain herself/himself to portfolio managers and quants
  • Ethical, collaborative, organised, flexible and high energy
