As a Barclays Senior Credit Sanctioner you will be responsible for credit risk structuring and sanctioning covering single or multiple industry sectors across the full spectrum in Business Banking. Working in partnership with different teams, you will provide credit input and expertise, deliver a World Class underwriting service whilst ensuring achievement of the team's risk and business objectives as well as maintaining the quality of the credit portfolio.

Hybrid Working
We are currently operating in a hybrid working environment, meaning that many colleagues spend part of their working hours at home and part in the office, depending on the nature of the role they are in. Please discuss the detail of the working pattern options for the role with the hiring manager.

What will you be doing?
• Providing effective credit assessment and decision making of credit applications from first line relationship colleagues relating to Business Banking customers
• You will be responsible for managing lending criteria and guidelines to reflect appetite for sectors and propositions
• Providing expert lending advice and sanctioning for existing clients, ensuring overall support, understanding the risks and setting appropriate monitoring and control
• Credit underwriting, ensuring strategies are in place and actions taken to mitigate risk with timely escalations through Watch-list categories or referrals
• Reviewing documents and undertaking credit clinics for Client Acquisition and material new money requests
• Working as a part of the deal team to help structure transactions and give credit steers
• Developing and maintaining a broad network of stakeholders and external advisers
• Leading interaction up to Managing Director level to support setting of sectors and complex transactions

What we're looking for:
• Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships and negotiate budget and timelines for key initiatives and strategies with stakeholders
• Detailed understanding of the key value drivers and financial dynamics of the business as well as understanding the market/industry macroeconomics
• Excellent communication and influencing skills with the ability to package ideas and results in a logical and understandable way to both technical and non-technical audiences
• Working as part of a multi-functional team for key projects and supporting leadership to deliver management work streams including colleague pillars

Skills that will help you in the role:
• Relevant professional qualification would be an advantage e.g ACIB, MBA, IFS/LIBF
• Experience with credit strategy through all stages of credit risk and product lifecycle
• Excellent command of risk tools/metrics e.g. UK SME 2; Slotting; GPT; Zeus; Salesforce
• Detailed knowledge of underwriting and credit risk management techniques, risk identification and analysis skills
