Role Purpose
  • Preparation of Finance Report (Financial Performance Results Reported to Exco and Board) including dealing with senior management queries/comments/questions prior to official distribution.
  • IFRS 9 ECL process - production, review & analysis, preparing management packs and sign off documents.
  • Provide support with the external audit process including financial statements and disclosures preparation, liaison, and coordination for all stages of audit cycle (interim, roll forward, year-end).
  • FINREP MI pack preparation for senior management review including dealing with queries/comments and ownership of action points.
  • Provide support with the implementation of UK SOX.
  • Manage the EMEA Balance Sheet Attestation Process.

Whilst the team has limited Regulatory Reporting oversight, FINREP reporting is directly linked to the Balance Sheet, P&L and Impairment reserves. These are areas the team are responsible for therefore there is a direct relationship in the reporting.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the preparation of Finance Report on a monthly basis. This report is distributed to the Executive Committee and Board. Includes liaising with various teams (Front Office, Treasury, CD, Regulatory, Tax, Expenses teams) for relevant contribution of material. Prior to distribution, ensuring unusual items are understood - this includes liaising with front office and back-office departments to understand the underlying drivers of the results. Attending a monthly meeting with the Head of Finance and other senior F&C members where the results are explained prior to final release of the report.
  • IFRS 9 ECL process - production, review & analysis, preparing management packs and sign off documents. Work with Risk Management Department and IT on ECL tool upgrades/enhancements and perform system testing as required.

Supporting the year-end Financial Statements process. To include:
  1. Preparation of financial statements and backing notes including data extraction, analysis, and presentation.
  2. Control of day-to-day liaison and management of all audit evidence gathering requests. Purpose is to control the process over audit evidence requests ensuring the audit timetable is supported and external auditors receive evidence in a timely manner
  • Preparation of quarterly FINREP MI pack for senior management review including dealing with queries/comments and ownership of action points.
  • Preparation of half yearly FINREP Balance Sheet and P&L forecast regulatory reports including ownership of senior management reviews and submission to the regulator.
  • Provide support to the wider team in relation to implementation of UK SOX,
  • Supporting the EMEA Balance Sheet Substantiation process including working in close coordination with all the local controllers as well as with London teams to ensure completion of the process on a timely basis, preparation of MI pack for management review and escalation and remediation of issues identified in the Balance Sheet Substantiation process.
  • Lead the remediation of internal and external audit findings relating to financial reporting and control.
  • Promote efficiency within the team through automation and process re-design.
  • Document new policies and procedures and update/enhance existing ones.
  • Support implementation of new accounting standards.
  • Respond to ad hoc management tasks and requests.

Experience and Skills Required
  • Qualified Accountant with significant post-qualification experience and relevant banking industry experience
  • Strong numerical and financial skills with the ability to interpret financial information.
  • Able to understand new and existing Accounting Standards and to interpret the impact they will have on the Bank's financial statements.
  • Previous experience in the banking or financial services sector.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office products (including MS Access) and Oracle GL
  • Ability to perform general numerically based tasks.
  • Can view problems from all angles and draw on external best practice to inform thinking.
