In this role, you will:

The candidate will be focussed on supporting the relationship management and business development of Wells Fargo's energy portfolio in the EMEA region in order to facilitate the Group's continued growth

(Note: In addition to these functions employees are required to carry out such other duties as may reasonably be required)

Key responsibilities include monitoring the credit quality of the portfolio and helping underwrite new and existing credits including identification of key risk factors as well as the development of financial projection models. Actively involved in the preparation of all credit approval documents, including due diligence, risk analysis, risk rating, underwriting, return analysis and business case, presentation and deliberation with credit, legal documentation and coordination with product partners when applicable. Engage directly and proactively with internal stakeholders to:
  • Provide ongoing, monitoring, maintenance and management of the portfolio. Post deal portfolio maintenance includes liaising and building strong relationships with back office and middle office teams in the UK, Ireland and US to help manage all ongoing operational matters.
  • Interpreting credit policies & procedures and incorporating requirements into credit analysis and lending recommendations.
  • Working closely with the team's Senior Relationship Managers, assume supporting role in preparation and input of credit papers and internal presentations of transactions to the Bank's key stakeholders, senior management and Credit Approvers.
  • Assist with ongoing preparation and accuracy of management reporting.
Analytical:
  • Understanding of the energy industry and the forces acting on them in order to recognise issues faced by the client base and the impact on their credit profiles.
  • Establish, critically review and manipulate Excel-based financial cash flow models to assist with credit analysis.
  • Identify and assess key risks associated with Energy customers, both corporate clients and secured transactions and structures.
  • Responsible for the accurate preparation of credit submissions including review of due diligence material and return calculations.
  • Develop a strong understanding of internal operational matters to ensure the timely preparation and submission of ongoing portfolio management functions - annual reviews, waiver / consents requests, redeterminations and ad hoc internal reporting requirements etc.
Relationship Management:
  • By development of a strong understanding of the Bank's product range and maintaining a close relationship with product partners, help strengthen and deepen existing client relationships
  • Identify and assist with the marketing of opportunities for Wells Fargo Group products including supporting th e relationship team to develop effective calling strategies for existing clients and prospects.
  • Work with UK and US team members to deliver the Bank's strategy and to expand the client base. Provide assistance on the development of product & industry strategies.
  • Provide support to develop client-focused presentations (including marketing pitches, relationship reviews and discussion papers) based on company specific research, analysis with a view to leveraging the Bank's product capabilities.
  • Support the preparation of financial & capital structure analysis to identify client's financial service needs.
Required Qualifications, International:

Essential
  • Degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Law, Geoscience, Engineering or similar.
  • Understanding of corporate finance principles and capital structuring issues.
  • Aptitude in excel based financial modelling with specific experience in Discounted Cash Flow modelling. Project and Structured finance experience being a distinct advantage.
  • Credit analytical skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proven presentation skills.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Post graduate qualifications.
  • Track-record of working in deal teams including identifying and mitigating credit risk and preparation and submission of credit reports.
  • An understanding of the European Energy industry and the key drivers affecting the sector including the migration to renewable energy and the emergence of clean energy technologies.
  • Underwriting experience in Europe with companies in the energy industry.
  • Knowledge of project financing preferably in infrastructure related sectors.
  • Working knowledge of banking products including Treasury Management, Debt Capital Markets, Loan Syndication, Interest Rate and Commodity Risk management and Foreign Exchange.
