Description
The Director of Benchmark Services will design and develop new business opportunities for CME Group's benchmark services. The individual will be responsible for the implementation, operation, and controls of these opportunities. The role requires a deep understanding of the changing regulatory landscape around benchmarks. The successful candidate must also ensure that the benchmarks developed comply with regulation and meet client needs.

The Individual:
  • Analytical with an attention to detail.
  • Be familiar with the drivers of performance and risk.
  • Be comfortable writing for and presenting to a diverse audience.
  • Have a good knowledge of MS Office for analysing data and generating reports.
  • Have working experience from a calculation agent, benchmark administrator or related financial institution.
  • Along with developing new indices, the individual will help contribute to thought leadership across a broad variety of topics. Experience in both traditional and alternatively weighted commodity and fixed income indices is required.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Working with internal and external stakeholders to design new benchmarks, including sourcing of data, quantitative analysis, calculation methodologies, technology, and monitoring and surveillance.
  • Analyze the existing benchmark inventory to ensure continued viability and compliance with regulation.
  • Understand the evolving regulatory landscape to consider impact on that inventory.
  • Providing operational oversight to processes and procedures including any dependencies on strategic partners and third parties.
  • Create thought leadership content, including external presentations, blogposts and white papers, which explain the benefits of and value proposition of CME's indices and benchmarks.
  • Be a Subject Matter Expert in benchmarks and indices
  • Have an active role in index operations and controls of CME Groups Benchmarks.
Key Requirements:
  • Solid understanding of financial markets, in particular benchmarks and indices.
  • 10+ years of quantitative experience in index and benchmark services or structured products
  • Educated to Bachelor's degree level or equivalent.
  • Academic background in mathematics, statistics, natural sciences
  • Working knowledge of benchmark regulation and the IOSCO Principles.
  • Quantitative and qualitative problem-solving skills and ability to demonstrate independence and objectivity
  • Excellent written and verbal presentation skills, with the ability to extract and present insights from data.
  • Experience in working with large data sets, combining and structuring data from diverse sources.
