We working with a leading global bank (London) that is looking to hire a European Economist with 4-8 years' experience.

The ideal candidate will be particularly strong on covering the UK economy (very important) and any previous experience covering France would also be very highly desirable. Other than the UK and France, our client is fairly flexible in terms of background, provided the selected candidate is a specialist in European Economics and has covered the UK (most important) and also France (strongly desired)

In this role, there would be some potential scope for client interaction, as well as very strong proression potential if the selected candidate performs strongly.

Experience with Python is highly desirable, as well as good experience with Econometrics (and using Eviews - a big plus) and modelling. Any previous experience covering thematic topics (such as inflation, fiscal policy etc) would also be a big plus.

Our client is happy to consider any strong candidates that come from the sell-side (including independent research houses/IRPs), as well as the buy-side, provided they fit the above criteria and experience level well.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or MSc in economics or related field
  • Experience covering the UK as an Economist, as well as France (preferred) and other core European markets
  • Analytical and quantitative skills - knowledge of Python, R, Matlab, VBA and any other coding languages
  • Strong with Econometric Analysis/Forecasting
  • Experience writing about thematic topics (eg. fiscal policy)
  • Experience building Economic/Macro models
  • Excellent communication skills
