Description of the Team

Client Assets team at Societe Generale in the UK provides a central oversight and advisory function over the group's compliance with the FCA's Client Assets regulation ('CASS'). Following the global financial crisis in 2008, client assets protection has been one of the areas of highest priority for the UK regulators and therefore, it is one of the most important regulatory functions for investment firms in the UK. You will be joining a team that oversees the CASS control framework of one of the 'Large' CASS firms in the UK. This is a great opportunity to develop a practical understanding of applying a complex regulatory framework to a broad array of financial products and multifaceted operating models.

Summary of Responsibilities
  • Performance of the daily client money calculation process Societe Generale International Limited. This involves communicating with multiple teams, understanding broad array of operational and market events and making decisions to ensure protection of clients' money.
  • Performance of daily, weekly and monthly CASS oversight controls related to Societe Generale London Branch.
  • Active participation in process automation and enhancements using internal and third party tools available.
  • Preparation of management information used for decision making at different CASS oversight meetings and committees.
  • Preparation of monthly regulatory reports on client assets submitted to the FCA.
  • Monitoring CASS controls performed by multiple operations teams to address any anomalies identified.
  • Assisting with information requests arising from compliance reviews, internal audit reviews and external audit reviews.
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with each team of the business

Profile Required
  • Fundamental understanding of financial services industry and financial instruments essential. Prior exposure to Client Assets rules would be beneficial.
  • Some practical experience in programming in any language and application of fundamental coding structures.
  • Intermediate MS Office knowledge (especially Excel).
  • Interest and curiosity to learn a complex regulatory area using the exposure to subject matter experts and real-world application of the rules.
  • Desire to be involved in a regulatory area subject to intense scrutiny.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Proficient oral and written communication skills and passion for developing collaborative relationships.
  • Proactive and problem-solving attitude.
  • Good organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Persistence and integrity to achieve the right outcomes for clients (CASS regulation is all about protecting clients' assets).
