The role
Reporting to the Head of Mortgage and Portfolio Credit, this newly created role involves underwriting and managing both individual portfolio credit transactions as well as the, now sizeable portfolio.
This portfolio is made up of first loss and excess of loss insurance of portfolios of assets including but not limited to residential mortgages, commercial mortgages, capital calls loans, commercial loas, RCFs and more.
Our solutions are innovative, tailored and mutually beneficial solutions for banks and other lenders.
The individual will be supporting the Head of Mortgage and Portfolio Credit to implement the Portfolio and Credit strategy and sustainably grow this portfolio.

Key accountabilities
- Build relationships with brokers and banks / lenders
- Underwrite transactions including undertaking portfolio analysis independently and with the Actuarial pricing Team
- Collating data and undertaking appropriate research, including analysis of market statistics, in order to assist the analysis of deals
- Working closely with credit portfolio analyst to monitor aggregations in relation to these products, including clash risk scenarios across the group and contribute to risk reporting.
- Monitoring market, macro-economic and political developments and assess its impact on the credit quality of the portfolio.
- Communicate conclusions effectively to underwriters, actuaries and senior management.
- Continuously improve analysis to ensure it is at the forefront of the industry in order to maintain commercial advantage.
- Participate on broker / client calls
- Assessing, analysing, and interpreting financial information.
Skills & experience
- The candidate does not have to have worked at an insurance company
- Highly technical/quantitative individual with experience in Risk, Business, Finance, Actuarial or Accounting /numerical related experience.
- Knowledge of credit risk and economic drivers of loss.
- Awareness / knowledge Credit risk coverage of structured securities.
- Credit Risk experience
- Comfortable in understanding and/or building models - cashflow or otherwise and explanation of results/stress tests to the business.
- Working with non-standard products offerings, very strong problem-solving skills and able develop creative solutions.
- An awareness of the insurance, reinsurance and financial markets as well as being a lateral thinker.
- Must possess excellent technical ability and computer skills
