We're looking for an a Data Engineer to join our Client Insights team as an Analyst Developer, We're looking for someone who possesses the experience of designing and delivering powerful, elegant and scalable data products as part of team who pride themselves on quality delivery principles. Using our best-in-class tools, we're looking for someone to bring our data, analytics and insights to life in powerful products which empowers our client facing teams.
You'll be responsible for delivering and promoting all aspects of data engineering from analysis, design, development, building and testing of solutions within the team. Responsible for managing your own work, estimating size and complexity and determining appropriate design, we're looking for someone who leads by example, delivering Better Products Faster.

The team
Within Client Insights technology, we partner with users to design, create and deliver the technology needed to support our in-house analytics (Descriptive and Predictive) and SaaS CRM products to maximise the opportunities for our Sales, Marketing and Client Service teams to deliver a best-in-class experience. Bringing to life both internal and external data in elegant products, we endeavour to enrich each interaction and support our teams decision making.
We recognise that successfully balancing personal and professional commitments brings out the best in our teams and therefore all roles in Global Technology are reviewed for suitability for flexible working arrangements. At present with this specific opportunity it is expected to require 5 working days per week, with a minimum of 2 onsite in London. We passionately believe that individual performance is enhanced by embracing the whole individual and structuring a working environment that supports them.
What you'll do
  • Working within our technology delivery team, you'll partner with our Product Owner(s) to design and engineer appealing, intuitive and insightful technology products for users of the Client Insight Unit toolsets
  • Deliver change to our first class data and analytics platform to support Sales planning and decision making
  • Support and coach junior team members, to encourage innovation, ensuring appropriate design principles are embraced, and the similarly appropriate engineering practices and methodologies are adopted
  • Partner with our Product Owner(s) to ensure that Epics, Features and Stories to be delivered by the team are suitably well defined and structured
  • Develop a deep understanding of the business processes and teams to support continued value delivery
  • Participate enthusiastically and effectively in Agile events
  • Inspire creativity amongst the team to bring innovative solutions to problems
The knowledge, experience and qualifications you need
  • Strong Data Engineering experience preferably in a larger enterprise environment
  • An understanding of data structures and common data transformation methodologies
  • A good appreciation of dimension data modelling
  • Testing experience, knowing how to test data pipelines and transformations
  • Knowledge of both SQL and NoSQL database platforms
  • Experience of using data visualisation tools (ideally Tableau / PowerBI)
  • Able to work in a modern software engineering environment using Agile and DevOps methodologies and tools including Scrum, git and CI/CD
  • Knowledge and experience working with an emphasis on security and access provisioning
  • Able to deal credibly with business and technical users at all levels of the organisation
  • Experience of working with global colleagues and stakeholders and sensitivity to cultural differences, time zones etc.
The knowledge, experience and qualifications that will help
  • Experience supporting junior team members within a highly performant development team
  • Software engineering experience using proven patterns and practices
  • Experience of data virtualisation, warehouse tools (Denodo / Snowflake)
  • Qualifications and experience of development within a Cloud Environment (Azure / AWS)
  • Knowledge and experience of using business analysis techniques and methodologies
  • Experience working in Financial Services, preferably Asset Management
