About this role

Business Unit Overview:

BlackRock EMEA Finance consists of Finance professionals in disciplines such as Tax, FP&A, Treasury, Accounting Operations and Corporate Accounting. Within the Controllers' Group, the Financial & Prudential Reporting team plays a key role in reporting the financial and prudential results for all legal entities within the EMEA region. The financial results are presented monthly in accordance with US GAAP and quarterly under IFRS. In addition, management accounts, board reports, statutory accounts and regulatory returns are prepared and presented quarterly.

Job Purpose/Background:

The Financial Reporting Manager will be responsible for a small sub-team of qualified financial accountants. The team members act as entity controllers for a number of UK and European legal entities and are therefore responsible for the integrity of the entities' P&L and Balance Sheets. Monthly analysis is produced to aid internal US GAAP management reporting and statutory accounts and regulatory returns under local GAAP are required. In order to deliver this, the successful candidate will develop strong relationships with other parts of Finance, (e.g. Tax, Accounting Policy, Risk and Quantitative Analysis, Compliance and external auditors.

This role will report into a VP/Director within the Financial and Prudential Reporting team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensuring that all required statutory accounts and regulatory returns are produced and submitted/filed in accordance with relevant deadlines
  • Ensuring financial control is maintained over regulated and non-regulated legal entities
  • Overseeing regular management reporting, presenting to entity boards as required
  • Liaising with auditors, tax & regulatory specialists
  • Actively searching for process improvements within the functions of the team
  • Building relationships with cross functional teams to enhance working relationships and improve analytical review on legal entities
  • Line management responsibility for two Associates

Knowledge/Experience:
  • CA/ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified with a strong academic record
  • 5+ years post qualified experience; preferably in Financial Services
  • Strong background in financial reporting, including awareness of global accounting standards, including US GAAP and IFRS
  • Experience in statutory accounts production and/or audit is essential
  • Experience of prudential reporting under Investment Firms Regulation or Investment Firms Prudential Regime is preferable
  • Ability to work accurately to tight reporting deadlines
  • People management
