Who we are looking for
As the Global Head of Liquidity Risk Management within State Street Global Advisors' (SSGA) Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) team, based either in London, Boston or Stamford, you will lead the oversight for liquidity risk across asset classes and investment styles for SSGA's investment product globally. You will need the ability to influence and engage senior stakeholders, as well as to adapt to rapidly changing market events with a liquidity risk implication. You will need the ability to manage a team of liquidity risk professionals and organize both qualitative and quantitative information in a meaningful way to develop and implement plans to mitigate liquidity risks to SSGA's clients and funds. This role can be performed in a hybrid model, where you can balance work from home and office to match your needs and role requirements. In this role you can anticipate substantive interaction with several global business functions, including Investment, Trading, Product, Legal and Compliance, and will need to communicate effectively with a wide range of people. You will also work closely with our Technology Risk partners to drive improvement in productivity via automation and centralization of risk reporting, to execute our digital transformation strategy. You will drive a risk-aware culture throughout the organization by challenging the status quo and providing objective thought leadership to our organization and the financial industry

What you will be responsible for
As Global Head of Liquidity Risk you will
  • Lead Liquidity Risk Oversight for the firm, including oversight of a team of risk professionals
  • Identify key liquidity risk events globally and ensure the risks are understood, quantified and appropriately mitigated
  • Chair the liquidity and derivative oversight committee and other associated governance meetings, ensuring that appropriate materials are available in a timely manner
  • Participate in client due diligence and regulatory meetings to articulate the firm's risk oversight program
  • Perform risk measurement and monitoring, provide reporting, interact with and engage first line of defense to address threshold exceedances and other risk related issues
  • Collaborate with various teams to execute, expand and improve SSGA's overall risk management framework
  • Work on improvements to methodologies used for risk analysis and undertake independent research
  • Provide global functional leadership and strong cross risk discipline vision by serving as a key contact for risk queries and collaborating with other risk and internal control functions
  • Work at the forefront of financial regulatory developments, new products, services and applications as well as assess and report on their respective impacts to the business's risk profile

Education & Preferred Qualifications
  • 10+ years of relevant investment and/or liquidity risk experience in a financial services organization, buy-side experience is preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, mathematics or business-related field, or equivalent experience; further education such as post-graduate degrees in a relevant discipline, CFA or FRM is ideal.
  • Prior experience with standard buy-side risk systems (e.g., MSCI BarraOne, Bloomberg PORT, GX truView), SQL database and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau) is desired, combined with vision to use technology and systems to build value adding risk monitoring processes and reporting
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word
  • A clear understanding of liquidity risk management concepts, techniques and regulatory framework (UCITS, AIFMD, SEC Derivatives Rules etc.)
  • Deep understanding of financial markets and instruments, passion for investment management and a good grasp of investment products, especially mutual funds and ETFs
  • A deep knowledge of market and liquidity risk drivers and the potential mitigates, as well as of key regulatory liquidity risk frameworks globally
  • Experience of engaging with senior business leaders, fund company boards and regulators globally
  • Analysis including stress testing process development and implementation
