About this role:

Control Management teams provide expertise and support to Business Groups/Enterprise Functions in the execution of critical activities connected to operational risk management.

The International Control Management team identifies, assesses, and mitigates risks across Financial Crimes, Regulatory, and Operational Risk types, ensuring alignment with the risk management framework and policies established by Independent Risk Management (IRM).

Within the International Control Management team is the recently formed Operations and COO control team. This team provides dedicated control coverage for the regional COO team, Corporate and Investment Banking 'CIB' Operations, Financial Crime\KYC Operations and Commercial Banking 'CB' Operations including Loan Operations and Commercial Capital Operations.

The initial primary focus area of the Lead Control Management Officer role will be coverage for the regional Commercial Banking Operations team. Coverage will include but is not limited to Loans Administration, Payment Services and Investigations, Client Services, Commercial Capital Operations and Trade Support.

Primary activities will include execution of the Risk and Control Self Assessment, Issue and Risk Event management, Issue identification and remediation and Control design, testing and evaluation.

In this role, you will:
  • Control\Process design and assist with the implementation of controls to mitigate risks within CB Operations, CIB Operations and COO functions
  • Provide control related guidance on issues and risk events, including root cause analysis, control design and risk ratings
  • Development of Corrective Actions to mitigate Inherent Risk
  • Design and partner with the regional CB Operations team in the implementation of risk monitoring activities
  • Identify the need for new or modified controls in processes across CB Operations, CIB Operations and the COO function
  • Design controls, test and monitor control effectiveness
  • Provide subject matter expertise on CB Operations Risks and Controls as key inputs to Risk Programs
  • Ensure CB Operations process execution aligns with the Risk Management Framework and applicable policies
  • Ensure appropriate reporting and escalation of key risk and control incidents, themes and risks
  • Ensure timely resolution of control gaps within CB Operations
  • Serve as a reviewer of risk processes such as New Business Initiatives and Risk Acceptance
Required Qualifications:
  • Proven Risk and Control experience from a large financial services organisation
  • Strong understanding of Commercial Banking Operations processes and trade lifecycles including Loans Administration and Payment services
  • Strong understanding of Legal and Regulatory obligations relating to Payments
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Excellent problem solving skills and the ability to propose creative solutions
  • Strong analytical skills with a high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Previous experience of Risk and Control Self Assessments 'RCSA'
  • Ability to manage and/or collaborate with geographically dispersed teams, matrixed relationships and interact with all levels of an organisation
  • Knowledge of global banking regulatory/supervisory frameworks.
  • Excellent decision making skills
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills
  • Proven Risk and Control experience from a large financial services organisation
  • Strong understanding of Operations processes, in particular Commercial Banking Operations, including Loans Administration, Payments, Client Service, Middle Office and Trade Support, Static Data\Customer Account Setup and Project Delivery
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Excellent problem solving skills and the ability to propose creative solutions
  • Strong analytical skills with a high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong product knowledge including derivatives, syndicated loans and securities
  • Previous experience of Risk and Control Self Assessments 'RCSA'
  • Ability to manage and/or collaborate with geographically dispersed teams, matrixed relationships and interact with all levels of an organisation
  • Knowledge of global banking regulatory/supervisory frameworks.
  • Excellent decision making skills
