Under the leadership and guidance of the Director - Investors:

The Senior Regional Manager plays a central role in EDC's financial business development efforts in the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) markets. The incumbent has continual interaction with senior representatives of Canadian Pension Plans, Canadian Institutional Investors, CFO's, CEO's and Treasurers of Canadian investee companies, senior bankers, senior intermediaries and senior public sector officials to discuss new investment, trade and financing trends and opportunities, potential financial structuring solutions, credit analysis and risk mitigation issues. The incumbent is expected to leverage this extensive network across the markets of coverage in order to support key Canadian investors and their investee companies thereby originating financing opportunities for EDC. As a trusted advisor to senior EDC management in the field, the Senior Regional Manager is called upon to develop and implement strategies, approaches and initiatives for positioning the EDC brand in the markets of coverage. The incumbent will lead the development of innovative financial solutions to enhance EDC's capacity to support key Canadian investors and their investee companies in order to meet the business requirements in those markets.

The Senior Regional Manager is accountable for financial business results of EDC with Canadian investors within the EMEA region against specified business volume and revenue targets. The Senior Regional Manager oversees business development planning and the management of business development resources, strategies and initiatives with Canadian investors and their investee companies within the EMEA region. The Senior Regional Manager leads trade creation & diversification initiatives with investee companies as required.

The Senior Regional Manager is also responsible for building and managing the brand image and reputation of EDC as a local value-added player in the markets and manages the Corporation's relationship with key stakeholders and partners within the Canadian investments sector.

Area of Selection:

Open to applicants who are legal residents or citizens of the United Kingdom, who hold current documentation allowing them to work in the UK without restriction, who meet all of the essential requirements stated and whose applications are received by the closing date.

Candidates will initially be screened against the Essential Qualifications relating to education, language* and experience.

Candidates will be required to provide proof of the completion of their education.
  • University degree (in business or finance)

  • Professional level of written and spoken English

  • Minimum 7 years of progressive financial services work experience with a bank or other financial institutions. The experience must include front office client facing roles.
  • Relevant experience in commercial/corporate/project finance, investment management and analysis.


The Rated Requirements are part of the essential qualifications and are relating to knowledge, abilities and competencies. Methods of assessment for rated requirements may include, but are not limited to, a written examination, an oral interview (online pre-recorded/live or in-person), role-play, practical tests, presentations and/or psychometric assessment.

  • Cultural knowledge of the London/European banking and private equity investment environment;
  • Knowledge of financial analysis, structuring and credit assessment (including credit risk management tools);
  • Knowledge of international capital markets with a focus on Western Europe, European banking and investment finance environments.
  • Understanding of financial requirements throughout the life cycle of capital and investment projects and related financing techniques;

Operational Requirements:
  • Ability to travel throughout the EMEA region and to Canada, as required.
  • Ability to travel to Ottawa, Canada for a 3-4 week training period will be required.
  • Hours of work will be 37.5 per week, worked Monday to Friday at times to be arranged by the supervisor.

Conditions of employment must be met or complied with before being appointed to a particular position, and are to be maintained throughout the employment while being the incumbent of this position.

- Valid work authorization: Ability to obtain and hold a valid work authorization covering the entire employment period.

- Security screening: Obtain and maintain a Reliability Status (security level) which includes a criminal and credit background check from the Government of Canada covering the entire employment period.
