Purpose of the role

The vacancy sits within the Group finance team which has a boutique feel to it therefore offering a great amount of diversity and breadth and very real exposure to senior stakeholders. This is a great opportunity to gain some leadership experience.

This position is a hands-on, all round, supporting the Head of Financial by leading the accounts payable team of three and producing high quality management information and financial reporting. The role supports the business with timely and accurate reports as well as analytical review to aid the businesses growth.

Key responsibilities of the role
  • Maintaining strong financial control of the general ledger, accurate and timely management information, including budgets, variances from budget and the production of KPIs which aligned to the business needs
  • Control certain balance sheet areas and production of reconciliations and analytical information to ensure appropriate treatments
  • Preparation of monthly management accounts and management reporting, including analysis and commentary
  • Working with the wider business to maintain and review budgets and forecasts
  • Provision of timely & accurate management information
  • Actively contributing to strengthening of the Finance team and identifying opportunities to improve processes, controls and analysis
  • Assisting with preparation of statutory accounts at year end
  • Assisting with budget to actuals monitoring
  • Liaison with external auditors throughout audit process
  • Preparation of the VAT return
  • Suppliers' management (correspondence, payments, reconciliations, revaluations)
  • Daily bank accounts reconciliations and revaluations
  • Month-end accruals and prepayments, fixed assets processing and monthly reconciliations


Qualifications / Educational Requirements
  • Good academic background,
  • Educated to degree standard - preferable, but not essential
  • Qualified ACA / ACCA / CIMA


Relevant Experience
  • Accounting and finance related experience gained in industry or in practice
  • Demonstrate ability to work well as a team
  • High attention to details and being proactive and self-motivated
  • Experience of working in a high paced deadline driven environment
  • Preferable exposure to Financial Services but strong Non-Financial Services considered
  • Intermediate to Advanced Excel skills
  • Sage experience desirable but not essential
