Job Purpose Statement

Working in the 2nd Line Operational Risk team, you will assist the wider Risk team in the development and maintenance of an effective risk management framework and a culture of risk awareness.

The remit of the role covers BMO GAM EMEA including overseas offices and boutiques.

Role Responsibilities

How you'll spend your time....

RISK ASSESSMENT
  • To provide support and assistance to risk owners to ensure they can effectively identify, assess, monitor, and report on their risks.
  • To co-ordinate the ongoing risk assessment process for selected business areas, ensuring risk owners are aware of reporting requirements and timeframes
  • To assist in the production of the annual ICARA submission.
RISK EVENTS
  • To manage and co-ordinate the risk event reporting process, including monitoring open events, and ensuring that these are being resolved in a timely manner and in line with agreed policy.
  • To assist in review and critical analysis of events, root causes and thematic reviews. Perform detailed investigations where appropriate.
  • To generate and analyse event related management information including trends and costs for all levels of management including senior executives.
RISK REPORTING
  • To produce risk reports for senior management, various BMO GAM (EMEA) Governance Committees and Boards.
  • To manage the delivery of the ISAE 3402 Report on Internal Controls (Institutional and Real Estate), working with the relevant business areas and the external auditors to ensure that the reports meet the latest standards and that the reports are signed according to schedule.
RISK TRAINING
  • To be involved in risk training when necessary.
  • Assist in the development of user guide, manuals, visual aids as and when necessary.

Desired Capabilities

  • Previous Asset Management experience covering both front and back offices.
  • An understanding of investment products / funds.
  • An understanding of the regulatory requirements, and new/pending regulations and how these may impact the business.
