Key Responsibilities:
Role Objectives
• Assist with ad-hoc Group-level hedging for BPA, M&A amongst others
• Assist with the design, development and deployment of derivative-based risk-management strategy
• Support projects focused on developing/enhancing middle and back office infrastructure within the asset manager
• Keep abreast of market developments (e.g. Libor discontinuation, RPI reform) and help communicate these to relevant stakeholders.
• Maintain regular communication with core counterparty banks to keep abreast of key market themes
• Support the development of new derivative-based asset capabilities within the investment teams
Job Dimensions
• Engage with LifeCo and banks mainly but also asset managers and consultants
• Interaction with wider ALM & SAA teams and wider company
• Manage stakeholder across different teams internally and externally with conflicting priorities and objectives

• Ability to work to tight timescales within a high energy team environment
Knowledge
• Knowledge of the key product, pricing and risk characteristics across inflation, credit, rates and equity derivatives is needed. Rates at a minimum.
• Ability to structure a portfolio of simple vanilla derivative hedges to manage complex exposures
• Fluency in MS Excel is required
• Familiarity with quantitative toolkits/systems such as Bloomberg, Python, VBA, Matlab, R, other analytical data tools is strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with Financial Information System Software such as Aladdin preferred.
Experience
• Structuring experience in banking or front-office derivative team within an asset manager or insurer
OR
• Strong experience in a middle-office derivative team within a bank, asset manager or insurer with the ambition and technical ability to move into a front-office team
