The Head of Marketing & Client Director will form part of the Senior Leadership team of the Investment Trust business. Managing a team of in-house Marketers and external Agencies, this role will set and deliver sector-leading Marketing with a distinct focus on digital delivery to our twelve clients. In addition, this role will be expected to perform a Client Director role where they will be the senior representative of our firm to a number of Client Boards.

Duties and responsibilities:

As the Head of Marketing and Digital you will:
  • Set Retail Marketing strategy to promote twelve Investment Trusts to self-directed investors.
  • Set Digital strategy for the Investment Trusts business (or similar) in collaboration with the broader digital teams with the firm.
  • Manage in-house team of Marketing Manager, Content Manager and a Trainee Marketer.
  • Lead a wider multi-agency marketing operation, ensuring that the delivered marketing proposition meets specification, exceeds Client Board expectations and represents strong value for money.
  • Forge strong relationships and work closely with other marketing and digital functions within the Group to leverage the benefits of size/scale through operational efficiency and purchasing power. Share best practices and ensure alignment where possible.
  • Represent the Marketing function to Client Boards with to sell-in the strategy, build and maintain their confidence and to take responsibility for the output.

As a Client Director you will:
  • Be the Senior representative to up to three Client Boards
  • Manage the Client Team of Company Secretary, Sales and Marketing and liaise closely with the Portfolio Manager to represent the Client Board to the firm and vice versa.
  • Be responsible for developing and maintaining a good working relationship between the Client Boards and the firm
  • Ensuring that high quality service and support is provided to the Client Board
  • Work with the Client Board to develop and implement the strategic plan for their Investment Trust
  • Play a key role in the growth and development of the Investment Trust business, including corporate actions and other growth opportunities.

The role requires:
  • Significant Marketing Leadership experience
  • Investment Management Certificate (IMC) preferred
  • Marketing-based degree and/or CIM/IDM qualification
  • Broad knowledge and experience of investment management
  • Experience in Investment Trust Client Board engagement preferred
  • Proven ability to set and sell-in Marketing strategies to Client Boards
  • Line management experience and proven ability to lead wider virtual teams.
  • Comfortable working at all levels of seniority but in particular be able to engage with and influence senior industry figures, some of whom are Non-Executive Directors sitting on our Client Boards.
