As a Barclays Hedge Accounting Senior Manager, you will work as a key technical subject matter expert (SME) for Barclays' hedge accounting function. You will be a vital business partner, managing the function's control framework, and helping to shape the area's strategic direction. In addition, you will also receive support in controlling the P&L volatility on the group's banking book hedging portfolio, which manages risks across interest rates, foreign exchange, and inflation products.

Barclays is a British universal bank. We are diversified by business, by different types of customers and clients, and by geography. Our businesses include consumer banking and payments operations around the world, as well as a top-tier, full service, global corporate and investment bank, all of which are supported by our service company which provides technology, operations and functional services across the Group.

We are an equal opportunity employer and we are opposed to discrimination on any grounds.

We are currently operating in a hybrid working environment, meaning that many colleagues spend part of their working hours at home and part in the office, depending on the nature of the role they are in. Please discuss the detail of the working pattern options for the role with the hiring manager.

What will you be doing?
• Providing ad hoc hedge accounting advice and insight to business stakeholders, including development and refinement of hedge accounting strategies
• Directing aspects of the function's change management, including significant input into and leadership around our Transform initiative
• Acting as a key SME for Hedge Accounting's risk and control framework, with accountabilities around ensuring that controls are performed to the highest of standards
• Providing insight over financial performance, and otherwise evolving that framework as necessary over time
• Successfully translating complex, technical hedge accounting concepts into simple, yet impactful messages for key stakeholders
• Developing and maintaining relationships across the bank, including colleagues within wider Finance, Treasury, Risk, Technical Accounting and Technology
• Identifying and act upon opportunities to reduce profit and loss volatility across the firm's multiple legal entity structure
• Ensuring that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements

What we're looking for:
• Excellent technical accounting mind-set with an understanding of hedge accounting and banking products, including derivatives
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; tested in a variety of mediums including presentations, policy documents and stakeholder meetings/forums
• Demonstrable experience of managing change projects within a finance function
• Experience of linking entity results through to financial statement production

Skills that will help you in the role:
• Degree educated
• Fully qualified accountant e.g. ACA, ACCA or equivalent
• Experience of working in Banking or other Financial Services company
• Understanding of Treasury function and related products

Where will you be working?
5 North Colonnade is home to our investment bank and is in the heart of Canary Wharf, just a short walk from our headquarters at Churchill Place. It boasts an array of onsite amenities such as dry cleaner as well as a deli and buffet style staff restaurant. The building is easily accessible by tube, docklands light railway and all major bus links. The atmosphere is second to none with a real buzz being created around the offices within.
