In order to support our international growth and our investment teams across London and New York, we are looking for a senior and passionate ESG specialist, interested in growing a team, with a specific expertise in private markets.

Currently in London, we have grown our investments teams across the real assets space, within Infrastructure, Private Credit, and Property.

New York will grow in a similar way with the addition of Private Equity.

Your new role

To support the growth of AustralianSuper, we have created a brand-new seat for a Senior Leader in our London office.

Working with the wider ESG Team in Australia, and local investment teams here, you will lead in the integration of material ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) investment issues throughout the investment portfolio to maximise member investment outcomes

Due to the continued growth, this new seat will also have responsibility to grow their own team, as well as the ESG function internationally. Overall, playing a vital part in the growth, sitting beside the Fund's Leaders with 20+ years of expertise, and supporting Fund's portfolio.

London Office

We established a permanent team in London nearly 6 years ago, to support the ongoing growth of the Fund, where we now have nearly 60 people and counting in our Kings Cross office. (One of the Fund's core assets, which is one of our two sizeable London development investments that you will have exposure to in the portfolio).

These teams include; Investments (Capital Markets, FICC, Infrastructure, Private Credit, & Property), Legal & Tax, People & Culture, Finance & Operations, Technology, Compliance, & Risk.

Key Duties
  • Designated local Senior Leader and Subject Matter Expert, for ESG & Stewardship across our private markets portfolio
  • Lead on the development of due diligence and ownership frameworks of real assets transactions and assets
  • Lead and continue the implementation of ESG issues into valuations and assessing ESG risks, including opportunities and impacts on potential investments.
  • Engage regularly with the Boards and Senior Stakeholders of the assets.
  • Contribute to and lead the development of ESG policies and achieving ESG objectives.
  • Represent the Fund within the ESG network, at industry events, participate in roundtables, workshops, and panels etc.
  • Grow, manage, coach, develop and mentor a new team in their career development

What you will need
  • Immense and very senior exposure within the ESG space
  • Significant expertise within private market investments
  • Experience applying ESG issues to property and infrastructure assets is essential
  • Experience managing managers and growing a specialist team
  • A strong interest in ESG issues and the UN's SDG's.
  • Experience of presenting and sitting on a committee or board related to private investments
  • Proven record, reporting and presenting to senior internal and external stakeholders
  • Proven experience in research, completing due diligence and providing advice
  • Ability to complete and/or oversee a team to complete; report preparation, analysing information and draw conclusions/recommendations
  • A genuine passion for ESG issues
