The Investment Execution Team is positioned within the CIO Office. This team responsible for trading on unconstrained Discretionary portfolios (DPM) as well as Execution only (EXO). It is an area of execution expertise, which is tasked with developing customer trust and loyalty through cross-asset class investment execution. The team manages client activity within agreed limits and group policies: complying with all statutory requirements applicable to each jurisdiction.

The team markets the EXO service with CRMs to clients through collaboration with Advisory & Pitch Teams. The EXO service has a Night Desk Agreement which enables clients to place/ amend orders into the US Close. The team provides profitability analysis per client to CRMs as well as to the management with the aim to ensure adequate level of ROA. Finally, the EXO service will consider the feasibility and practicality of dealing additional products based on client demands. Summary of the key purposes of the role
  • Provide assistance to dealers with client instructions and trade requests;
  • Support the Head of Investment Execution with reporting and ongoing improvement of service;
  • Once trained, in response to client demand provide live pricing and market information;
  • Deliver EXO service to KH clients in accordance with prevailing regulatory requirements and internal credit and risk policies;
  • Manage Discretionary investment portfolios in line with client objectives and Kleinwort Hambros Investment Committee (KHIC) Recommended Asset Allocations (RAA) in an efficient manner;
  • Monitor and maintain portfolio static data

Summary of responsibilities
  • Manage discretionary portfolios according to the established investment and dealing process for discretionary clients;
  • Rebalance discretionary portfolios following client instructions (Cash flows/requests, strategy changes, open/closure et al);
  • Adhere to the Discretionary Portfolio Management (DPM) Policy and underlying investment strategy;
  • Perform ongoing investment controlling, performance and risk monitoring of the portfolios;
  • Comply with the regulations, rules and procedures, internal and external applicable in the context of its function;
  • Develop customer trust and loyalty through a 'high touch' cross-asset dealing service;
  • Assist in managing client trading activity within agreed limits and group policies: complying with all statutory requirements applicable to each jurisdiction;
  • Keep CRMs always informed of the level of activities of their clients and raise any concerns;
  • Ensure trades are executed on a timely manner in line with Best Execution policy;
  • Develop and sustain a broad technical knowledge across a wide range of products and services of the Private Bank to ensure client orders are handled swiftly and correctly;
  • Ensure any client order is recorded in relevant systems once order is received;
  • Report any breach of procedures and operational losses;
  • Keep up-to-date with industry and market changes;
  • Complete all trainings on time;
  • Reporting to clients on status of cross-asset orders;
  • Daily management/updates of client limit orders;
  • Accurate and fast execution, and market information on request


Once authorised by training and competence team:
  • Trade authorisation level
  • Sizeable trades (>100k GBP) must be confirmed by another member of the team.

Competencies
  • Demonstrated strong attention to detail;
  • Strong client focus (sales or trader profile);
  • Individual contributor competencies as defined in the SG Leadership Model (Team spirit, innovation, responsibility and commitment);
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Strong data analysis skills;
  • Knowledge of the Banking industry in UK (Organisation, Regulation);
  • Ability to work independently and within a team;
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and whilst under pressure;
  • Risk management knowledge (financial instruments used to take & hedge exposures);
  • Prior experience in the HNWI industry or Asset Management;
  • A strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word;
  • Prior experience with VBA, Bloomberg.

EDUCATION

  • Previous experience in a similar environment;
  • CFA1&IMC / IAD Diploma / CISI Masters;
  • Master's in Finance or equivalent is desirable
  • Genuine interest in the financial markets in general and desire to work towards appropriate regulatory qualifications & exams where required;
