The M&G Investment & Credit Risk For Private Markets Team (the "Team") sits within the business second line risk function alongside the fixed income, equity and multi-asset investment risk teams, reporting directly into the M&G CRO. It has responsibility for independent, comprehensive, consistent and efficient investment and credit risk oversight for the M&G's Private Assets & Alternatives business. In addition, the Team also provides second line risk coverage across counterpart risk, other risk solutions and liquidity risk management for both liquid and private markets.

The Role
This appointment will be for the Head of Credit Risk For Private Markets . It holds responsibility for independent, comprehensive, consistent and efficient investment and credit risk oversight for the M&G's Private Assets & Alternatives business. We are looking for an e xperienced credit risk analyst to organise, streamline and execute the M&G second line investment risk oversight strategy. We require someone who will have extensive knowledge of Infrastructure Debt and Real Estate Finance.

Responsibilities:
  • Organises and streamlines the credit risk oversight process for Private Assets & Alternatives from a second line risk perspective.
  • Builds and maintains relationships with major stakeholders within the M&G credit risk process for Private Assets.
  • Participates in the review and approval process for internal rating methodologies.
  • Reviews investment/credit papers for new transactions, including credit rating proposals, and attends investment/credit committees to provide risk challenge at process and individual transaction levels.
  • Scrutinises investment/credit papers for periodic asset reviews, including credit ratings, and attends review meetings to provide risk challenge at process and individual transaction levels.
  • Prepares credit risk summaries for M&G governance committees.
  • Participates in valuation model validation activities, especially in terms of verifying assumptions embedded into vc.caluation models.
  • Supports other workstreams within the Team such as counterparty risk, et
  • Engages in projects across the wider investment risk team.
  • Embraces ESG implementation from a second line risk perspective, with the potential to lead the project for the Team.

Skills, Knowledge & Experience:
  • Skills and experience
  • Extensive track record of experience in debt origination, credit and/or credit risk role from either a reputable bank or an asset management house with sizeable private assets operations.
  • Thorough understanding of Credit Ratings, Methodological and Models.
  • An in-depth understanding of infrastructure debt and real estate finance.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines. Attention to detail. Ability to set own priorities and deadlines and respond to requests from other business areas in a timely and professional manner.

  • Preferable Experience
  • Prior exposure to ESG would also be desirable.
  • Additional knowledge of structured finance, infrastructure equity, real estate equity, more general private equity investments as well as internal valuation models would be a plus.
