Group Internal Consulting (GIC) is UBS's internal consulting unit. We are a dynamic, driven and diverse team with over 750 people present in 5 regions across the globe. You will be working in the Emerging Solutions team in London where we help UBS business divisions and functions implement their digital strategy and accomplish their business ambitions by leveraging new and emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Advanced Analytics, Cognitive Automation and Blockchain.

Your expertise
• Ideally 2+ years' experience in delivering data science projects preferably in a leading consultancy or an in-house consulting team within a large financial services organization
• Academic degree and/or professional qualification in data science or similar subject
• Hands-on experience in developing end-to-end ML / data science pipelines from sourcing data and feature engineering to model training, model evaluation, inference, and data visualization / integration
• Good understanding of the underlying theory and statistics of machine learning algorithms (e.g. Decision Trees vs Naïve Bayes vs Neural Networks) and learning techniques (e.g. supervised, semi-supervised, unsupervised, reinforcement learning)
• Proven experience in leading NLP projects using the latest industry standard approaches such as transformer models (e.g. BERT) in one or more areas of: Text Classification, Document Summarization, Question Answering, Semantic Information Extraction, Machine Translation, Topic Modelling, Tagging, Optical/Intelligent Character Recognition (OCR/ICR), Speech/Voice Recognition and Chatbots/Cognitive Assistants
• Experience in working with a wide variety of data formats e.g. unstructured/semi-structured/structured data, text, images, time-series, stationary vs. non-stationary data, as well as handling Big Data (e.g. with Spark / Hadoop)
• Strong Python skills with leading machine learning libraries (e.g. PyTorch, TensorFlow, spaCy, NumPy, SciPy, SciKit-Learn, Transformers, etc) + Preferable experience in one or more of the following technologies that we use: Azure Cognitive Services, Azure ML, Dataiku, Alteryx, Tableau, PowerBI, Qlik, Workfusion, re:infer, Teneo, SQL, Spark, R, and other similar technologies
• Understanding of best practices to deploy ML models to production including knowledge of relevant technology stacks (e.g. docker containers, Kubernetes clusters, micro web frameworks) and associated ML Ops processes
• Adept in working in technology-led projects within complex organizations including familiarity with Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile principles
• Basic understanding in one or more core business areas of Financial Services e.g. Investment Banking (Trading/Banking), Wealth Management, Asset Management, Personal & Corporate Banking, Settlements & Clearing, Treasury (Liquidity/Capital/Funding), Financial Accounting, Custody, Payments Operations, Risk & Compliance, etc.
• Highly driven and motivated with a can-do attitude and eager to learn and to solve complex problems
• Strong written and verbal communicator and comfortable presenting to senior stakeholders, able to navigate and network across a global complex organization and work effectively in a team
