As a Barclays Senior Operational Risk Manager, you will join our Operational Risk team within the Partner Finance, overseeing its operational risk profiles and providing an independent view on how these are being managed against agreed tolerances. This is an exciting opportunity to join a knowledgeable team where you will showcase your expertise, partnering the businesses with the purpose of ensuring that the First Line of Defence effectively and optimally manages all the required activities.

What will you be doing?
• Influencing and challenging senior leaders to make risk-informed business and strategy decisions
• Providing independent oversight of the Risk and Control profile of the BUK Transact and Pay business, reviewing and challenging effectively the operational risk management processes
• Being responsible for the provision and support for the use of a practical toolset to set and manage the businesses Operational risks
• Engaging and working effectively with First and Second Line of management, as well as building relationships with other key risk professionals across the Group
• Facilitating dialogues between different stakeholders to support decision-making
• Influencing and building consensus to share knowledge and experience within the Business and the Operational Risk function
• Ensuring that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework and Barclays Policies

What we're looking for:
• Excellent practical knowledge and experience of operational risk management and framework, with a solid commercial awareness
• Good knowledge of change lifecycles and Oversight of Strategic Change Programmes
• Experience in driving effective management actions, being able to positively influence management's decisions
• Ability to pro-actively engage with senior management in situations where the optimal outcome may not be the preferred commercial outcome

Skills that will help you in the role:
• A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent professional qualification would be preferred
• Proven track record of management experience, with a good knowledge of the businesses to which they partner
• Comprehensive appreciation of other risk types and how they impact and relate to Operational Risk
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English language, with the ability to communicate and influence effectively at all levels of the business

Where will you be working?
Northampton was the birthplace of Barclaycard in 1966 and we've been based in Pavilion Drive since the building opened in 1997. We purchased the building from the landlord in early 2018 as a sign of our commitment to investment in Northampton. Plans to further develop this Campus-style location are under way to allow for a real collaborative work environment. Based just off the A45 it is easily accessible by both car and bus routes.
