The role
To work in the Credit Analyst Team in the Credit and Political Risk (CPR) Department analysing international corporate, bank, real estate, sovereign , sub-sovereign, transactional credit risk and project finance.

To work in the Credit Analyst Team in the Credit and Political Risk (CPR) Department analysing international corporate, bank, real estate, sovereign , sub-sovereign, transactional credit risk and project finance.
Key accountabilities
- Be responsible for analysing risk profiles, including familiarity of rating methods for obligors, structures and transactions, quantitative and qualitative methods, to develop forecast scenario assumptions and to monitor actual performance.
- Advise on risk selection and risk structuring in keeping with our business objectives and portfolio goals.
- Assess and advise on individual short and long term transactional risk profiles.
- Review financial models and cash flow models as part of overall obligor finance analysis. Review and analyse financial information pertinent to existing and potential obligors and counterparties, as well as the company's insureds, using established financial risk analysis techniques.
- Assist Credit Analyst Team Head to provide regular reports on economic and market developments that may impact the portfolio.
- Assist the Global CPR Head and Underwriters in optimising the CPR portfolio based on emerging risks relating to sector, obligor and geographical concentrations.
- Investigate all available sources of credit and financial information and determine if additional information is needed to proceed with the insurance of the credit.
- Attend client meetings and risk review meetings with the members of the CPR team
Skills & experience
Education
- Relevant credit assessment experience at a bank, rating agency or fund.
- Experience of corporate investment grade, high yield, loan markets and an understanding of key issues and industry drivers.
- Degree or equivalent, preferably in finance, economics or related area.
- CFA or ACCA would be welcome.
Skills
- Strong credit analysis experience across a wide range of sectors, geographies, including emerging markets, acquisition finance, asset backed, leverage, real estate.
- Understanding of economic trends and their implication on political and credit risks.
- Analyse transaction structures, complex financial models, stress test scenarios.
- Prepare and provide training to CPR team on credit issues.
- Highly organised, ability to work to a deadline with high volume of enquiries.
- Strong decision making, written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills.
- Enthusiastic, pro-active, motivated, keen to learn and to support Underwriters.
- Ability to adapt to hybrid working, be readily contactable, pro-active, responsive to requests at all times during the working day, actively participate in team meetings.
- Fluency in English; additional language skills welcome
