This role is part of our Tech service division - TS is the backbone of DWP Digital. We deliver secure, effective and cost-efficient digital infrastructure services and run the live IT operations behind digital innovation for 110,000 colleagues and around 22 million users.

As an Availability Manager you will be responsible for the design, implementation, measurement, optimisation and management of IT Infrastructure Availability in DWP.

You will provide a range of IT Availability reporting and analysis to ensure that agreed levels of Availability, Reliability and Maintainability are measured, monitored and improved upon, on an ongoing basis.

You'll deliver cost effective improvements that deliver tangible benefits to the business and our millions of users. You'll help reduce the frequency and duration of incidents that impact IT Availability over time.

All that on an epic scale, and impacting products and services that millions of people across the UK use and rely on.

in DWP your official job title will be IT Operations Controller - Availability Manager, but your role will be all about managing our IT Availability.

What skills, knowledge and experience will you need?
  • Experience of ITIL in a live service, operations environment
  • Demonstrable experience of reporting and communication skills to key stakeholders.
  • Ability to interpret data from different sources, analyse patterns and trends and recommend continuous improvement initiatives
  • Experience of end to end service monitoring in a live operational environment
  • Ability to investigate and resolve problems in systems, processes and services ensuring services are aligned to customer needs.
  • Experience with Service Block Diagrams and service criticality frameworks.
