On behalf of Deutsche Bank, AMS are now looking for an Operational Risk Specialist to work in their Divisional Control Office based in London on a PAYE basis.

Overview:

The Corporate Bank - Divisional Control Office (CB DCO) is a First Line of Defence (1LoD) risk and control function sitting within CB COO focused on Non-Financial Risks (NFR).

The team is closely aligned with the CB business, providing central oversight of the Division's control framework activities, including design, implementation, on-going monitoring/reporting and testing/validation of supervisory and key controls across CB.

The successful candidate will play a key role in helping to define and implement a sustainable CB-wide 1LoD control framework to address NFR and supporting the management of the UK & Ireland Regional Control Office within DCO. They will also support the Division by contributing to the development, implementation and maintenance of a risk culture to ensure a strong and sustainable control environment whilst minimising risks and issues arising from Non-Financial Risk factors.

This is a highly dynamic role, with frequent interaction with a wide range of stakeholders across all functions within CB. A great opportunity to develop breadth of network and content knowledge across the CB franchise.

The position reports to the Global Head of Corporate Bank NFR Framework & Reporting (who is also the Regional Head of CB DCO for the UK & Ireland Region) and sits within the NFR Governance & Audit Management area in Central DCO

Key responsibilities:
  • Co-ordination and management of specific aspects of NFR Framework implementation for CB DCO, including Control Framework
  • Support the overall NFR Framework implementation across CB division (e.g. NFR Governance, Scenario Analysis, Read-Across, MI & Reporting, Risk Assessment and Appetite, Transformation Risk Assessments etc.)
  • Assist the Regional Head of CB DCO UKI in regional-aligned NFR activities (e.g. UKI regulatory adherence, London Branch NFR and GBP currency council secretary etc.)
  • Monitor key metrics and flag issues and breaches; collaborate with the business and Second Line of Defence (2 LoD) stakeholders in evolving information and link to wider NFR Framework elements
  • Continuous review and renewal of overall environment for consistency and alignment with 2 LoD control standards
  • Support changes required to the Supervisory and Conduct Framework

Skills and Qualifications:
  • 5-7 year's experience in a similar role within financial services
  • A good understanding of Non-Financial Risk Management principles and practices
  • Demonstrable experience of developing strong working relationships with business areas to facilitate successful risk management within the 3 Lines of Defence model
  • Advanced user of MS Office applications (esp. Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Worked with key stakeholders within a high pressured dynamic environment
  • Appreciation of the regulatory environment in the business and more broadly the regulatory perspectives on Non-Financial Risk

  • Effective relationship building, communication and analytical skills; has demonstrated the ability to work effectively with all levels within the organisation.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to synthesise complex information within a short period of time.
  • Agile and able to respond to a changing portfolio of work, often in short time lines
  • Ability to question existing control framework and provide solutions to strengthen controls
  • Team player, willing to help out other team members where required and be a constructive conscientious corporate citizen
