Our client a world leading insurer is seeking to appoint an experienced Technical Business Analyst to work with our Product Delivery team, leading technical data and business analysis, assisting data changes, migration of data, and delivering results in a time-pressured environment.

10. Role Purpose: Simple single statement

To provide technical data and business analysis expertise in the delivery of Data Operations and Data Management projects. This includes the analysis, design, development and implementation of new data solutions and applications, as well as establishing business analysis best practice.

11.Principal Accountabilities: 8-10 outcomes
  • Technical business analysis including requirements elicitation and delivery across multiple business areas
  • Perform analysis for strategic and data projects, using Agile methodology (e.g. user stories, and backlog priority management etc.)
  • Analysing and documenting 'as is' and 'to be' processes and obtaining stakeholder/business owner sign off and ownership
  • Provide business with effective support and advice in relation to technological and operational changes to be implemented
  • Definition and documentation of business and technical requirements, acceptance criteria and design of systems and processes as appropriate
  • Providing detailed functional and technical design specifications
  • Ensure a full understanding of both technical and business issues and produce relevant epics, features, user stories, customer journeys and wireframes
  • Assist with development of appropriate tests strategies and test cases, supporting UAT, BAT and MAT process and testing of changes developed by the team
  • Actively manage changes to scope and requirements at all stages
  • Work with Product Owner to build and maintain data product backlogs, addressing business requirements at every stage of the product delivery

  • Ability to identify gaps and understand where improvements can be made
  • Knowledge of and experience with reporting tools (SAP Business Objects, Microsoft Excel), databases (SQL)
  • Adept at queries, report writing and presenting findings
  • Ability to creating a product model through user story mapping
  • Ability in defining business requirements and functional tests
  • Technical experience (Data, Software, APIs or similar)

  • A good knowledge and understanding of reporting and analytical tools, data analysis principles and quantitative methodologies used to gain insights into the data and present findings to the audience in question
  • An understanding of Agile release management, backlog prioritisation and creating user stories
  • Solid knowledge and experience of business analysis tools and processes
  • Good understanding of the software development lifecycle and testing

  • Detailed end to end experience as a Technical Business Analyst, ideally gained in the Insurance, Banking and/or Financial Services sector
  • Worked in cross functional teams and have an Agile way of working.
  • Working in a business focused, process and data driven environment
  • Working in an Agile software development environment using Scrum
  • Basic to good working knowledge of data modelling
  • Collaborating with cross functional Agile technology teams
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills, used to working with business stakeholders
