The Role: Search Manager - 6 month FTC

The Search Manager (SEO Manager) sits within the Digital Marketing Team, reporting into the Head of Marketing Technology, and is responsible for defining and implementing the global search marketing strategy for the business. The successful applicant will work collaboratively across the business as well as with external agencies, to ensure our on-site and off-site search activities are optimised across our digital estate. They will also provide consultancy, training and guidelines to the wider business in multiple territories in the fundamentals of search optimisation and best practice approaches.

The role holder needs to have experience in all aspects of search optimisation, ideally at a global level, including technical expertise. They need to be a self-starter with the confidence to engage individuals at all levels across the business. Knowledge of the financial services industry is preferred but not essential.

Key Work Level Accountabilities:
  • Accountable for providing a quality service or product to customers and stakeholders, using skills/experience built through significant practical experience or training
  • For team leaders, accountable for ensuring the team the role supports is delivering a quality service or product
  • Works within established frameworks and procedures, with the freedom to interpret them to solve a range of problems
  • Delivers outputs that are clearly defined, using discretion over how to achieve them
  • Makes suggestions for improvements to the work of the team, based on previous experience and knowledge of similar situations

Key Responsibilities for this role:
  • Providing recommendations on how the business should best optimise the Search Experience into its core marketing activities including alignment with PPC strategies in multiple territories
  • Providing consultation on content production to ensure it is SEO optimal
  • Setting technical guidelines for the development and publishing teams to ensure the site architecture supports SEO goals
  • Setting and owning the SEO guidelines (including technical), standards and documentation
  • Building a 'search marketing centre of excellence' that provides consultancy to other teams across M&G plc
  • Working with peers across the Brand and Marketing teams to help deliver the plans set out by the global marketing managers, including cost-effective lead generation for the business
  • Reporting on the success of search optimisation against pre-defined KPIs on a regular basis
  • Delivering search marketing training/coaching to help upskill the wider business
  • Working collaboratively with PPC and SEO agencies to identify content and changes required to match customer themes and intent in order to drive higher quality and higher volume of traffic across all digital estates

Key Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
  • Strong knowledge of Google Ads and Google Analytics (Adobe Analytics knowledge a plus)
  • Experience in building and optimising campaigns on Google Ads, Bing and other ecommerce marketing platforms to generate a positive ROI
  • Experience in optimising copy and landing pages for paid search engine marketing campaigns
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to identify and communicate areas of poor performance or opportunity
