We are looking for a portfolio manager to join the Currency Portfolio investment team in London. You will join a dynamic, successful and collaborative team of investment professionals, managing currency portfolios and bringing market-leading solutions to our clients.
The role is to be part of an investment team involved in the management of passive and active currency portfolios. This involves trade generation, verification and monitoring as well as other general portfolio management duties.
The portfolio manager will support the other portfolio managers in all aspects of the day to day management of the currency overlay business with the goal of providing positive outcomes for our clients and minimising operational risk for the firm. In time you will take responsibility for individual accounts and have increased client contact.
This role will provide you with an opportunity to build rewarding partnerships and to contribute directly towards driving State Street Global Advisors currency business forward. As a team we take pride in our ability to work under pressure while collaborating with clients, service providers and other State Street teams in an efficient and friendly manner.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist in managing a range of clients' currency portfolios and exposures according to investment guidelines in order to provide positive outcomes for clients while mitigating operational risk.
  • Take initiative to drive the improvement of internal processes working together with our global teams to identify and develop efficiencies
  • Monitor and analyze portfolio performance
  • Support the client servicing efforts with preparation of client presentation materials and reporting packages
  • Maintain the highest possible fiduciary standards.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Highly analytical mindset
  • Exhibit strong attention to detail producing high quality work with a high degree of accuracy while operating under time sensitive deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal skills and excellent communication skills (both written and verbal), you are able to work as part of a team as well as taking initiative to work independently on behalf of the team
  • Knowledge of macroeconomics and interest in financial markets with a desire to learn more
  • Currency management experience would be an advantage
  • Proficiency in Excel
  • Knowledge of Bloomberg useful
  • Advanced degree and/or CFA designation (or progress towards CFA designation) is an asset
