The opportunity - Overview

Advice is the core of the SPW customer proposition and ensuring there is a modern, flexible proposition that delivers fair customer outcomes and is commercially sustainable is key to the success of the business. Advice Support Team

Purpose
  • The primary purpose of the team is to ensure advisers are supported in the advice they provide from a technical perspective. The team provides them a source of technical expertise to help formulate and deliver the best of advice to our clients, while also identifying wider development areas for both individuals and the wider adviser population. They also provide oversight on specific need and product areas.


Roles and Responsibilities

Leading the Technical Support team
  • Lead the team in establishing themselves as a collaborative and influential team within the organisation, supporting the growth ambitions of the wider business.
  • Develop the capability of the direct team through personal development and coaching
  • Engage with the Adviser Development Managers and other relevant parties in the improvement of advisers capabilities through the analysis and assessment of the support provided
  • Raise the profile and impact of the technical support team with advisers and the wider business


Act as technical support
  • Act as technical support for complex advice cases where advisers require the support of a specialist to help construct and develop client solutions, which would include unusual bespoke client circumstances, Trusts, Non Personals, enhanced IHT planning, VCT / EIS, retirement income planning and linked legacy product issues. Also provide oversight on more complex areas such as Specialist Investments (VCT's, EIS's etc)
  • Assess for trends and wider knowledge gaps for engagement with ADM's and Training teams to support adviser development
  • Support and feedback to ADM's and RCM's (and other relevant parties) on knowledge gaps,
  • Uncover emerging issues and/or needs and identify potential causes, related issues, key stakeholders and barriers
  • On occasions, attend client meetings to provide more detailed investment analysis and fund insight to help the adviser secure the client relationship - this might also include pitch material creation and presentation


Act as Key SME
  • Collaboration with other business units across SPW, contributing to projects and propositional development when required, including in the subsequent implementation
  • Be aware of external market and third party providers proposition including LBG and Cazenove Capital where appropriate.
  • Where relevant, support training or coaching in areas of technical knowledge development to others throughout SPW.
  • Identify shortcomings, suggesting and implement improvements to existing business practices.

  • Grow both own capabilities by pursuing and investing in personal development and others' capabilities by providing specialised training or coaching in area of expertise to others throughout SPW.


Qualifications, experience & background
  • 5+ years relevant experience
  • Qualifications: QCF Lv4 Diploma or equivalent as a minimum. Ideally QCF Lv6 or actively studying towards.
  • Experienced in the suitability of advice, the FCA COBS Suitability assessment
  • Technical expert in protection, retirement planning, investments, taxation, trust and estate planning, financial services products and FCA regulations.
  • Ideally experience in management of a team
  • CPD: All members of the team are expected to completed the required levels of CPD as per CII. 35 hours, with 21 hours being structured
