The Role: Restructuring and SSITS Investment Analyst

Our client, a London based pan- European investment firm, is looking to bolster their business to support the growing activities of the Restructuring and Debt Solutions/SSITS Financing team, both in the provision of specialist restructuring advice to their fixed income business and originating, analysing, executing and managing new public and private investments across its special situation strategies.

This is a highly attractive opportunity for candidates based in London looking to demonstrate their creativity and collaborate with and learn from an experienced team of investment professionals with a wealth of knowledge from numerous corporate finance backgrounds.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supporting Associate Directors and Directors to source, analyse, execute, monitor and exit restructurings and investments.
  • Provide written and financial analysis to support the restructuring of fixed income investments; and investments in private and public debt distressed or special situations.
  • Creation and/or review of detailed financial models relating to restructurings or investments.
  • Evaluate, structure and negotiate restructurings and investments.
  • Make verbal and written presentations to the Team, Investment Committees and the Problem Credit Committees.
  • Liaise with key counterparties such as advisers, lenders and corporate representatives.
  • Prepare reporting materials and assisting in the valuations of companies or other assets.
  • Support Associate Directors and Directors to manage relationships with partners, intermediaries and sponsors, in relation to specific transactions and to develop pipeline transactions.
  • Keep abreast of the European restructuring, Distressed Debt and Special Situations markets for developments and new opportunities.
  • Manage process of legal documentation to ensure it appropriately reflects commercial agreements.
  • To work collaboratively with colleagues and take personal accountability to maintain and enhance controls you are responsible for to support improvement of the overall control environment, customers outcomes and a reduction in the firm's operational risk

Required knowledge, skills and experience:
  • Ideally 2 - 4 years of experience in restructuring and investments and/or someone with a strong desire to become a market-leading investment and/or restructuring professional.
  • Excellent analysis and valuation skills which will include appropriate financial modelling skills.
  • Direct or relevant experience in a restructuring or investments role with a track record in operational businesses or real assets. This experience may have been gained at an investment fund, a sponsor, a bank, or an advisory role.
  • Strong verbal and written communicators with experience of delivering presentations and reports.
  • Strong and flexible work ethic plus the ability to be effective in working both independently and in teams.
  • Ideally familiar with standard loan documentation and key aspects of transaction implementation including covenant setting, security taking and ongoing controls and creditor and shareholder protections.
  • The ability to operate in a meritocratic culture of shared responsibility and success.
  • European language skills or, if required, the willingness to develop such skills.
  • Willingness to travel across Europe, initially with a particular focus on Ireland.
  • Degree educated
  • Preference for ACA / CFA or equivalent
  • Experience post qualification or graduate programme which will likely have been gained in an investment business, a corporate, a bank, or an advisory role would be an advantage
