The role: Associate Director, Real Estate Indices Product Management

The team
S&P DJI indices are used as the basis of investment products and to benchmark portfolio performance. S&P DJI indices are the foundation of some of the world's leading exchange traded derivatives, ETFs, structured products, OTC instruments, index funds in addition to being the benchmark for investment portfolios.

The Global Equities Product Management team provides insights and thought leadership on S&P DJI's global equity and real estate index suite and is responsible for the overall product strategy and financial health of the product line. This spans a wide range of products including global benchmarks such as the S&P Global BMI, regional index series such as the S&P/TSX Canadian Indices and listed real estate indices such as the S&P Property and Dow Jones Select Real Estate Securities Indices. The team also helps to develop new benchmarks for market participants and promotes their potential applications.

The impact
We are looking for an Associate Director to support our initiatives globally relating to our conventional real estate benchmarks and ESG/Green real estate indices.

This role will support the Director of Real Estate Indices in overseeing our existing real estate index suite and building out our ESG/Green real estate index offering. This will involve coordinating product launches, responding to client requests, formulating product messaging and using S&P DJI data to provide insights. The role also involves assisting with the business development process by working closely with the Sales and Marketing teams, producing and updating go-to-market materials and participating in client meetings.

The role will allow the Director to have impactful exposure to multiple groups within S&P DJI (Marketing and Communications, Channel management, Research & Design, Index Development, Client Coverage, and others), to clients such as structured product desks, asset managers and asset owners, exchanges, and other financial technology and data players

Responsibilities
  • Establish product strategies, develop product positioning, and help to drive the commercial success of our real estate index franchise globally.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on the REIT industry and real estate index methodologies
  • Publish thought leadership including presentations, papers, blogs, index analysis, and commentary
  • Oversee the new index launch process
  • Collaborate with a wide range of internal teams including research & design, marketing, the client experience team, governance, the index management and production group, and communications.
What we're looking for
  • Undergraduate degree in finance or a related field is required.
  • Masters degree in a relevant field or progress towards a CFA Charterholder is preferred.
  • Expertise related to REITs and listed real estate securities is required. Knowledge of broader global equity markets is also desired.
  • Experience working with ESG datasets - particularly related to REITs is desired
  • Understanding of the investment process, investment management industry, portfolio theory, and financial markets is required.
  • Knowledge of indexing, passive investing and understanding of real estate indices is desired.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills as well as attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of analytical platforms such as FactSet, Capital IQ, Evestment and Morningstar is preferred.

Compensation/Benefits Information (US Applicants Only):
S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $130,000 - $155000. Base salary ranges may vary by geographic location. In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive bonus.
