The opportunity

As our Leeds function continues with its growth plans, we have an opportunity for a Senior Financial Accountant specialising in Investments & FX to join our team. You will assist with accounting and reporting activities ensuring the accuracy and consistency of underlying data meaning a good technical and statistics background would be advantageous. You will also liaise with external and internal customers, as necessary

Your new role

Your primary responsibilities will include:
  • Manage delivery of accurate and reliable financial information for completion of statutory / entity and group reporting, working in conjunction with Finance Operations
  • Ability to analyse investment assets data in depth and demonstrate knowledge of investment assets data
  • Preparation of high-quality reports for the board and conduct review of analysis and reconciliations performed by Finance Operations team
  • Knowledge of Investment assets disclosures under UK GAAP and IFRS for the Statutory accounts
  • Ensure that financial data and reports comply with the appropriate management, statutory and regulatory requirements, plus QBE Group accounting guidance and best practice guidelines
  • Represent Financial Reporting function in (and contribute to) projects / change programmes, impacting financial reporting activities, presentations as necessary
  • Maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including internal and external auditors, to ensure service delivery meets customer expectations.
  • Supervise and absorb data from the team (incl. matrix oversight of teams in Finance Operations and Reporting CoE) to ensure quality of financial reporting by performing supervisory review and providing final approval of the reports
  • Ability to work and share Investment/FX knowledge alongside Stakeholders, Directors, CFO and the Board

Your story so far

Given the fast pace and cyclical demand, it's important that you already have an in-depth understanding of the workings of a finance department and be driven to succeed.

In order to thrive in the role of a Senior Financial Accountant here at QBE, we would expect you to have working experience in most of the following areas:
  • Qualified accountant (for example ACA, ACCA or CIMA) or equivalent or have relevant years of working experience
  • Have an in depth understanding of best-practice accounting (in an insurance environment preferred, although strong candidates from other parts of financial services industry will be considered)
  • Experience of use of latest relevant accounting software and tools
  • Strong interpersonal skills to enable effective communication at all levels within the organisation
  • Be confident building controls into processes
