The opportunity

The Data Control and Governance Manger will shape, implement and manage key controls for all data accepted and used within Finance and to ensure the strategy is in line with best practices and wider group data policies. Ensuring that data is Valid, Accurate, Complete and delivered on a timely basis to support Group and Statutory reporting.

Your new role

The successful person will define and enable scalable, cost-efficient management and delivery of Finance data access and provision of Management Information to Finance stakeholders. Centralises the coordination of Finance Data and MI initiatives with a focus on delivering for Brilliant Basics, Analytics and Management Information

Your primary responsibilities will include:
  • Support the Head of Data Centre of Excellence in developing & executing Finance Data Strategy and roadmap.
  • Providing oversight over the Finance Data Control Framework, ensuring controls are designed and operating effectively within Finance.
  • Manage the data interdependencies with other stakeholders and ensure consistency and alignment of data used by others in the business (e.g. running the '3-way reconciliation', and managing the resolution of all differences with the relevant stakeholders).
  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders across Finance teams as well as with Risk, Legal, Compliance, Data & MI and Underwriting.
  • Where required, lead, motivate and manage a small team ensuring overall output and quality of services provided is within specified levels.

Your story so far

In order to thrive in the role as our Manager, Data Control & Governance here at QBE, we would expect you to have working experience in most of the following areas:
  • Experience of working within data and finance functions.
  • Experience of working on master data management (MDM) - performing the mapping, writing the rules and understanding the impact of the change.
  • Experience in the management of data quality and the techniques used to support this.
  • Qualified accountant or equivalent.
  • Good knowledge of data management/ governance processes and tools with successful business application.
  • Working knowledge of finance data controls and operational efficiency principals and best practices.
