Who we're looking for

Reporting to the Head of Group Management Reporting, this is an important role providing an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to gain an understanding of the asset management business through exposure to group reporting including group strategic forecasting. As a small team, each member will have exposure to the whole spectrum of work that the team is involved in, including high profile outputs. This role focuses on the delivery of financial modelling and forecasting and would suit an ambitious individual that is looking for a challenge.

About Schroders
We're a global investment manager. We help institutions, intermediaries and individuals around the world invest money to meet their goals, fulfil their ambitions, and prepare for the future.

We have around 5,000 people on six continents. And we've been around for over 200 years, but keep adapting as society and technology changes. What doesn't change is our commitment to helping our clients, and society, prosper.

The base
We moved into our new HQ in the City of London in 2018. We're close to our clients, in the heart of the UK's financial centre. And we have everything we need to work flexibly.

The team

The Group Management Reporting team is responsible for all internal financial reporting to the Group Management Committee and Board, including forward looking budgeting, forecasting and strategic analysis.

To meet monthly reporting requirements, the team produces a suite of information and related commentary in accordance with a monthly timetable. Ad hoc analysis is produced to support business decisions as and when required.
The team performs the modelling of long term business forecasts that support the Group business strategy and stress testing (ICAAP/ILAAP/ICARA). This requires close liaison with both finance and non finance stakeholders.
The Group budget process involves detailed planning, monitoring of progress, control and review of information as well as reporting to senior management.

What you'll do
The successful candidate responsibilities would include, but are not limited to:

  • Preparing and updating the group Forecast model for different scenarios in order to support the group strategy process and capital adequacy stress testing with a particular focus on liquidity and balance sheet forecasting.
  • Supporting the new IFPR requirements with the production of ICARA for our UK regulated entities with a particular focus on the balance sheet element.
  • Maintaining an appropriate control framework around the forecast process, to minimise the risk of misstatement including ensuring standard procedures for documentation are adhered to and appropriate levels of review are undertaken and documented.
  • Preparing quarterly cash-flow forecasts for a number of regulated entities.

The Group Management Reporting team works closely with the Group Financial Reporting team (GFR) which is responsible for the production of all external Financial reports including the annual report and accounts. As we are a small team the successful candidate, from time to time, might be expected to help with tasks such as:

  • Assisting with the preparation of the year-end and interim accounts
  • Preparing various schedules and analyses at year-end and interim including the analyst presentation slides

The knowledge, experience and qualifications you need

  • Qualified Accountant with demonstrable experience of management reporting gained within the Financial services industry.
  • Strong IT skills and an experienced user of Excel to an advanced stage where they are able to demonstrate competency in financial modelling.
  • Experience with Hyperion Planning is desirable.
  • Able to demonstrate a high level of awareness of the commercial implications of trends within the financial data and of business drivers and their impact.
  • Highly numerate with strong attention to detail and controls.
  • Very strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to deal proficiently with large sets of data and present information clearly so as to aid management's understanding of the business.
  • Able to work under own initiative, to tight deadlines and be proactive in their approach.
  • Able to develop close and effective working relationships within finance and across other areas of the business. Good inter-personal skills, as these will be required to deal with a wide range of people.
  • Able to analyse process flows and identify areas to improve efficiency.
  • Control focussed and diligent.

We're looking for the best, whoever they are
